Re: Fuel pump choices

Why do you need 32lb injectors on a 355 with only Vortec heads?
Guys are running 383's with 24 lb injectors

If you are making over 300 HP at 43.5psi you will have your injectors lock out, and burn a hole in your piston due to a lean running condition.

30lbs. are good to about 380HP.

You can stretch it a little bit by bumping up fuel pressure to 50psi.

I used racetronix's kit.

Comes with Walbro 255LPH high-performance fuel pump

30 lbs injectors are good for 450 horsepower on a BSFC of around .5

A duty cycle of 80% is imaginary. The injectors don't have any idea what the duty cycle is, since they have no idea what the firing window is. To say that an injector is unhappy being open "90 percent of the widow of time" vs "80 percent" is just plain silly.

It's just a solenoid.

On the other hand, injectors do become erratic if you try to command them to fire for a window of time that is too short. There is a certain amount of time it takes for the injector to open, and the injector to close. Some injectors can't be fired sub 1ms, so if you over inject a car you might find your idle to be very erratic while at WOT you're only at 80%.
