Better than tpi or stealthram??? Search for 5pp

I have a built 383 tpi motor..love the torque..dislike the lack of hp..dynoed at 491tq 330 hp..

Tpis bigmouth and siamesed runners 190cc heads...crower 00903 cam (about 230 lift)

In my search for higher hp without loosing to much torque would a 58mm tb bring significant gains? Loose the tpi style intake altogether?
Any options besides stealth ram? Single plan style mpfi?

Anybody have any proven sbc combos with over 400 tq and hp?..no pwer addr

Have you looked into Robb's setup? Dynamicefi.com? I have the p4 system keeps the'730 ECM but uses a daughter board instead of a chip tuning is then like HP tuners just flash the ECM...

Stealth ram will gain good hp and lose good bit of peak trq but the stealth rams torque curve will be broader overall. Carry more after peak as rpm climb

58mm tb wont do anything on that setup as is

You might consider FIRST FUEL INJECTION of Bristol, WI. It's a TPI system with huge runners. My 383 is very "happy" with it. I also use Dynamic EFI's P4 for engine managment.

Any numbers or times for that setup?

Accel Superram is a great street intake with good torque and there is also the FIRST TPI intake mentioned in previous post...

Dyno comparison on many intakes too bad FIRST wasnt tested..

If you get a stealth ram and find yourself needing torque you can swap cam gears and stall for a proper setup (for shorter runners) and you will not be missing it anymore.

But My vote goes for the FIRST setup as well. No need to change many other parts and you can keep the torque.

Where did that horsepower peak, what RPM? Do you have the dyno sheet handy?

I've an '87 IROC 350 5sp.

What all is involved to go to a 383 stroker? Block is cracked.
Will TPI get me 400-430hp?
Or carb instead if straightforward eg no hood mod needed?
Lastly am in Vancouver Canada & wondering if a crate engine is best & who to buy from? US or Canada idc whatever is a better deal.

Thx

This thread seems to be painting a similar picture of what I remember about the FIRST TPI setup-- People posting actual dyno numbers or 1/4 mile times for them is as rare as a loche ness monster sighting. I was looking into a FIRST setup several years back but went single plane because of the lack of hard data on them (along with the price tag). Buy the Professional products efi single plane intake, an Accell throttle body and a carb throttle cable and you will cure your lower HP predicament. You will have less torque but your'e not towing something so how much can you really use down low anyway?

Re: Better than tpi or stealthram??? Search for 5pp

The key to more HP is air flow, you need at least 330 cfm on each runner, to achieve that,
you need to do a lot of work.

A stealth ram ported will do it.
A FIRST out of the box will flow 300cfm on the base but the runners need help
(extrude hone).
