Terrified to mess with the car...please help

Yes, I did a search before I posted...nothing really answered my questions...
Please reply in explicit detail, so as I don't misunderstand anything ^_^

I've been thinking about waxing my car....half of the car has brand new paint with a clear coat and the other half is cheap, flaky paint that has no clear coat...(you can sort of tell in the pic)

Should I try to wax it, and see how it comes out? Would the paint that doesn't have the clear coat look any better? And can I assume that the new paint will look even shinier? A lot of you have recommended Mother's products? Is there anything else that would work just as well....?

Please help me, I'm really scared to mess up my beautiful Camaro.
Thank you!

how old is the paint job?? Do not wax it if it hasn't hit the 2 week mark yet. Waxing will not allow the paint to dry thoroughly. I use meguires but mark A. uses something called Zaino. I would definitely use wax once you allow 2 weeks to pass by. First use polish (this is what give the car a shine, not the wax like most people think ) then wax to protect the paint. Good luck.

Wohh, nope I use Meguiar's too, for the price it's great. Step 1-3. I'd use Zaino but I would just use that money to save for a cheap paint job.

Figured I'd thrown in a pic after using the Meguiar's.
