my paintjob is still preety good. it would last me a few more years before i redue it.
but i hate my pinstripes and decal color
i've got gold stripes and "iroc" with the solid gold 15" rims. on a black car they look like crap.
i am getting some original 88-90 iroc rims and i would like to replace the pinstrips.
question is can i do it without trashing the paint?
i would like to repaint the car black redue them in red but that is down the road.
any ideas?

The Eastwood Company makes a rubber wheel that takes stripes off pretty well without damaging the paint. You can also try the ol' hair dryer trick.

After your success you may have to buff the areas where the stripes were.

Depending on how old they are, sometimes you can spray them off at the car wash, or if you have a high pressure washer. Just hold the nozzel about 1 or 2 inches away and hose them off. Then that will leave a sticky residue, use some Goof Off to get rid of that. It will probably take a little while to get the sticky crap off, be patient. You will probably have to buff the paint where all of the decals were.
That is what I did.
That is what I did.
