Gatorbacks
Gatorbacks
Does anyone have any idea of where to find some new gatorbacks???
I've heard so many opinions about them some good and some bad.
I don't know anything about them, but i wanna find some.
Money ain't much of a prob for me either.
I just want to find some.
Can anyone tell me how good/bad they are.

the gatorback is still a good tire. a friend of mine still uses them in SCCA roadracing as rain tires on his C4 vette. i am not sure if goodyear still sells them though, they may have replaced them with the GS-C.

Goodyear discontinued them starting in 1993 and phased them out in all sizes except for the 245/45ZR17 that comes on the Mustangs w/17" wheels.
Good Luck finding some, unless someone could afford to stash a set to re-sell later as demand rises when people want a 100 point restored/original 3rd gen.
Be prepared to pay some big $$$.
I saw a guy at Vettefest selling some GY Eagle GT 255/60R15 for 1200.00. They were brand new with blue on letters and stickers on tread. Since they were O.E. on vettes they get the Inflated prices now.
I've got a few in decent shape I'm saving. I hope I can use them in another 15 years when my 89 IROC or TTA are worth a bit more if that day ever comes.
Yes, the Gatorbacks were great tires in their day. Stuck very well, good in the rain, but wore out fast, and were EXPENSIVE New. Goodyear has always been proud of their product!!!
The Eagle F1 GS is like the Gatorback, but light years ahead in Treadlife, Ride quality, and handling.
