New Firehawk Wheels...center cap question
Does any body know what company made the lens, that says Ronal, that is on the center cap. I want to get one that has that origional Firehawk logo.
I E-mailed Gary at Ronal and he said:"Hi. I can't help w. the Logo's at this time..."
Do you think SLP would help, since they are getting their logo on the same wheels?

I doubt SLP will sell you center caps without having the VIN # off an original Firehawk. Even the guys with 4th gens have to give SLP their vin #s to order Firehawk logo parts.
I am looking into getting cap inserts made that mimic the WS6 caps I have already on my stock wheels.
Let us know what you find out!

That was actually my first idea. But I thought it might be easier to get the Firehawk logo. Let me know if you find a place. Maybe we can do a group purchase going. I am sure there are other people who want the same thing.
Did you get your wheels painted red? I ordered them the standard color. I wanted something a little dirrerent, since my car is red also. Post some pics when you get them.
Hey i just looked and their is a bunch of Vin #'s their for firehawks...... here is the VIN # from a 2000 Black SLP firehawk
VIN# 2G2FV22G6Y2107778

I ordered the wheels painted red identical to the 92 Firehawks. I'm still waiting for them. I continue to get the Ronal broken record. I'm glad some people got their wheels already.
As soon as I get the wheels I can start the centercap process. I can't get any questions answered from Ronal (not even lug nut size.) I'll definitely pass on any information I get.
Let us know if SLP can help with the caps. I'm one that thinks that badges/logos are like wedding rings, if you aren't mariried you don't wear the ring now do you?
It was my understanding the vin# had to be from the year/model the parts were being ordered for, but you never know. It was also my understanding the "new" version they are selling would come with SLP centercaps, and not Firehawk. I could be interested in those centercaps if the price was right.
My tires are sitting in the garage. It hurts to see 4 brand new 275/40/ZR17 Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP's sitting there when they should be on the car.
Soon. I hope.

Firestone owns the copyright to that firehawk logo.
Chris,
I spoke to Gary@Ronal today. Says the rims are at the painter now and will be done next week. So, that means we will get our rims in October. I am all paid up on mine too....

Yes I am interested in a set for mine.
I have also been looking at the 4th Gen WS6 cap in black. It is the same diameter. But I have not figured out how to cut the back of it off to make it flush so I can mount it in the R-15 cap.

Now which wheel is that, the 17" that came on the '96 to '99 Formula or T/A, with the WS6 package? That cap is the same diameter? I measured th e R-15 and it looks to be between 2.875" to 3".
Now is it not a plastic lens, with an adhesive back, stuck to some sort of a clip that snaps in the wheel? I heard heat weakens the glue and a hair dryer should work.
I'll do some more research on this topic.

cg91ta,
It looks like it is the same size, but the back of it needs to be removed. The back has tongs all around the outer edge for a press fit in the center openinig of the 17" WS6 wheel. I am not sure how to remove this part of it without destroying the cap.

Are the tabs plastic or metal? I would think you could use a cut-off wheel on a Dremel or something?
What is GM's part number/price for that cap?
Thanks!

The Ronal caps are just plain ugly. I was under the impression that the Firehawk or SLP logos would be on the centercaps. Has anyone had any luck with changing centers yet? There is a hole in the back of the centercap where you could probably break out the Ronal plastic and put in some new emblems...IFFFF you could find the Firehawk or SLP center caps. PLEASE let any of us know if you find them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hail:

Where did you get those caps. Do you have a part number for them?
Take some pics of the back side of that cap and post them so we could take a look.

91 Formula,
The caps are available through GM and the part number is 9592700.
Here is a picture of the back of the cap.

Ahhh... it looks like it is an aluminum button with the ends bent around the plactic snap on piece.
Doesn't look like we can use this. Anybody else have any other ideas?

It looks plastic to me, but even if it's not I think it's still usable. The main thing is the difference in size.... If it's a lot bigger then we'll have to shave some of it off on a lathe.

Center caps
What I am doing is having the center caps made by a machine shop then sending them out to be engraved. I had to take a hair dryer to heat the center cap up and it still didnt all come out as one peice. I will post pics if anyone is interested in the future when I have them done.

Caps and lugs included w. all wheels
We, RONAL, are making these wheels, and NATURALLY, they come w. RONAL lenses...you can change them out as you wish, but we as a manufacturer will put our lenses in them...this is NORMAL. I do not have access to any other logo's---and from the sound of things...it's a bit difficult...hence..I can't help w. this!!
All the wheels will come w. lug nuts, etc.
The wheels are available at this time, and those of you who ordered the wheels "CUSTOM PAINTED" will soon receive the wheels...as they are coming back from being CUSTOM PAINTED...
you can read my earlier posting today, about the updates on these wheels...
I hope this answers some of your concerns..

Does anyone know what the diameter of the inner part of the WS6 cap is I'm trying to find some center caps for a set of wheels on my car. I need some that are 2.75" dia on the inside where it attaches to the wheel.

I unsucessfully installed the front wheels this weekend (needs spacers!!? **** Ronal didnt send me any!), so the center caps are on hold for the moment. I'll take another look at doing the center caps after I straighten this out with Ronal on monday.

Well, not so much the brakes as the 1LE spindles, as they bring the tie rod end in a little so that it clears the wheel rim. Did you have any luck with Ronal? If so, any pictures yet?

I had luck with Ronal... they overnighted me the spacers and everything worked out fine. Here are some pictures of the motor and wheels. It's in the garage so I cant get a full shot at it, but it's high ridin' right now anyway because of the engine being out.

Nice setup. What's the specs on the motor?
Cool, you got the silver R-15 too. The Ronal center caps still on there? Do they really look that good in person on a red car. I have not had a chance to mount mine yet, finishing T-56 swap.

[/QUOTE] I'm not a big fan of the center caps, but at this point the centercaps are the least of my concerns. They honestly dont look bad...it's just a matter of personal preference. I do have a new set of centercaps in the above posts that I am looking forward to trying out fairly soon.
