Page 2....you can see RAIF in the right corner of the bottom pic, just barely! The quotes from Shannon are just below the kid in the TA. Sorry my scans kind of suck...

Since you can barely read the print, here is what it says about her:
A hard luck designation was granted to Shannon Haag, of Jonesboro, Ga whose spectacular red and black Trans Am (Firebird, not TA) was engaged in a head-on battle with an armadillo on her way down. "The armadillo lost, of course, but it did some major damage to my car," reported Shannon. "We were walking up and down 1-85 for two hours looking for my air filter. Finally found it at 3am, but then the fan and pulley system (on the alternator) flew off, cutting the coolant hose (overflow), covering the immaculate engine compartment in coolant. Boy, did I have some cleaning to do!". Her car glowed in the spring sun, displaying only the shine of a well-tended T/A (not a TA), never hinting of the blood, sweat, and tears of the journey south. "There was a lot of help when I got here, too. They even let me register late, which was nice".
The stuff in parentheses are my corrections to the article. To clarify, the armadillo dead centered the front fin, taking a chunk of it out, and knocking off the old conical K&N filter as it passed under the car. It took the IAT sensor and Sneaky Pete nozzle (still unused) with it. We found the filter, which had been apparently run over and picked up into the wheelwells of a tractor trailer and dumped a mile down the road past where we turned off to look for it. Fortunately the filter was still useable, at least enough to get us to FL and back, and the sensor was undamaged. Later, just a few miles from the show, the alternator nut worked its way loose and we lost the belt, pulley, nut, and washer...we think it seized. Shannon found all the pieces and I got it back together (thanks to the guy in the 74 Cuda 440 who took me to Discount Auto Parts!), but it still wouldn't charge, so we swapped to another alternator and drove on. Gee, aren't cars fun

At first, I didn't like her car. But the more I look at, the more I like it. Got to give points for creativety. Congrats on getting in a magazine!
i hit the same bird 3 times a few days ago, around dusk, had the headlights up, popped the bird off the side of the light, barey tapped on the t top and POP off the back drivers side corner of my aero spoiler, a very odd view in the mirror, poor thing. 'birds killin birds, whats the world come to?

Look for Shannon in the next issue of Super Chevy...under the Atlanta Super Chevy Show coverage. I doubt there will be a picture of the car, but she's in a group shot with the other class winners. Hopefully we'll be able to get more coverage with the new paint and the V8 swap, which will be starting soon.

Thanks for the kind words you guys. It was cool they even did the write up. I was quite surprised when our club preident showed it to us at a meeting.
As far as my car in the pics...Its hiding behind the flamed bird. You can see my window tint.
To further explain the chaos of the trip. (Joe did not mention how the radiator fluid got all over the engine.) Well from what we could tell as the alt fan shot off, it clipped the small coolant reservoir hose. With the fan belt off, the water pump was not turning and the car began to overheat. So as the coolant went to the res it went out the new hole and shot all over the engine bay. And I mean all over.
Oh wow. There was magazine coverage at that show? I wonder which day they were there.. maybe I should've gone all three instead of two.
Looks like gtauto got a whole pic to himself..
Too bad I drove a 'maro.. hehe
