The 84 15th Annv. car I just bought has very good paint (only 71K miles) BUT there are 4-5 spots on the hood that vary in size from a dime to a quarter. Now, it looks like the white paint just straight up flaked off! It's nothing but bare metal! Now if I wax the entire car with Formula113 will that keep surface rust from starting until I paint the car next spring or should I just do the right thing and sand down the area (about a square ft) and primar it? I kinda don't want to be driving around in a car that on the outside is perfect but then have this big old primar spot on the hood you know. On the other hand I don't want any rust on this car because it is totally rust free.

I think it will be alright with wax, what do you guys think? Also, are the spots likely to get bigger ever thought they have a ton of wax over them?

 

take the time, and do the right thing for your hood.

even if you can only work on it every so often, just do it piece by piece.

i tried to hurry through the recent painting of the hood i purchased recently, and got rewarded with a hood that looks like the paint is flaking off.

i'm living with mine until i can paint the car this coming spring.
