91/92 birds move liscence plate??

I like the look of the front end, but don't like how the plate ruins the lines of the car
Has anyone moved the plate from the front bumper to below on the front air dam?? Any legal problems?

i hear ya on those damn front plate laws.

i've seen some 4th gen guys putting the front plate on the deflector. i heard it's still not legal, but i'm not positive. here's what my brother's plan is (95 T/A)...he keeps his plate and a bracket under his seat, if he's ever pulled over, usually the cops dont even give him crap about not having one, but if they do, he'll just pulls it out "oh, sorry about that, officer. here *pulls out plate and bracket* i was actually just about to install it" i figure it can't hurt anything.

usually if you're not an *** to the cops, they wont look into those craptacular offences anyways...

I do the 'no-plate' option myself. My front plate already had some battle damage from someone backing in to it at work, so I pulled off the metal bracket, and stuck the plate in the back seat.

Put a couple of wrinkles in your plate, then get an cheapo metal bracket from the parts place, and bend the crap out of it. keep both in your back seat in case the cops give you static. At most, they'll issue a 'fix-it' ticket, which you can beat by just hanging the plate back on the bumper.

I did the no plate thing for a few months.
The cops around here have a hard on for no front plate.
Even having it on the dash they still broke my *****.
So I made a bracket to mount the stupid thing.
I still hate how it looks, but it beats getting pulled over every week !!!

Yep, I got one of those too. I was doing the speed limit though, but had my track numbers still on the windows. Not too popular with the transit police.

I saw a 92 Corvette with the plate at the very bottom. I wonder how much the guy scraped it. I wonder if you could mount it that way on Formula right above the urethane air dam.

I have a front license plate bracket already mounted on the car. It ruins the nose in my opinion. Not only by the way they look, but by the fact that Pontiac/Chevy had to drill holes in our bumpers to get them mounted. Our cars just weren't designed to have one. So when I get ready to paint the car in a couple years after I restore the interior and do some mods to it I am going to buy a new nose and paint it with the car. I'll file the license plate bracket in the trash.

Some states allow you to have the option to not have a front plate, or at least put the plate in your windshield. Some local officials don't like that becuase you can't see the plate in adverse weather conditions.

I used to have my Nebraska tag on the air dam, my friend was actually pulled over for it once (got a fix-it ticket), and I got a warning for it once when I got pulled over for speeding. Took it off here recently cause I moved to Kansas (One tag ), and the old plate was scraped to holy hell.

Like Black Bird said, if you aren't an *** to the cops they "usually" won't be a pig on a power trip.

The cops that actually have real problems like homicides, rapists, thefts, battery cases, etc are too busy to even worry about stopping you for no front plate. It's the ones that have nothing to do that bother me the most because they have to find something to do other than sit in their squad car all day looking for potential speeders, and when they don't come up with something they will find a reason to give you a ticket.
