I picked my wife up in High School(7 years ago) and after 2 kids and alot of $hit she is still here. She still says she loves my car and every now and then the seats get pushed all the way back....

 

Actually my previous cars have been an 89 lesabre, 95 park avenue, and a 82 regal. Do you think my camaro would take the 95 in a race?

 

All of us as humans want to create some kind of image or another. You cant tell me not one person had these things in the back of there mind when they bought these cars, women if your a guy, or guys if your a woman. what people would think when they saw your car pick up. etc.

Do your own thing. Buy whatever model car, (its easier than designing one and building your own).. If people like it thats great, who really cares? There are much more meaningful things to worry about than metal that came out of the ground.

I bought my RS because it was what I wanted. I didn't buy it to impress anyone, if it does, great. I do get looks from people of all ages and walks of life. And the kind of women who will be attracted to you because of your car will often be some of the most shallow people you'll meet, IMHO. Be your own man, if the car turns your crank, get it. But get it for you.

yeah man chicks dig camaros, I used to drive chicks all the time back in highschool, I made some of them pay also.
But even my ex-gf really liked the car, and my prom date was crazy about my car, I asked if she wanted to go Limo or Camaro, she answered Camaro like right away, I was pretty impressed.
And I would usally get looks all the time.. its a nice looking car man. enjoy it!

I can't speak for everyone here, but you don't really pick up chicks with a car. It's the man and personna behind the wheel. When chics see a guy driving a Ferrari, they don't see a cool guy, all they see is $$$$$$. Those are the kind of women you can't really get along with more than a couple of days. The most popular guy in my high school drove a Volvo station wagon, which proves my point of its not the car that makes the "Man," its the man who makes the "Man."


I drive a thirdgen because I like the 80's and I like the classic wedge shape design of the cars. I could care less about my image. I have better things to worry about, like graduating College.

 

Well obviously to some people (this topic starter being one of them) looks do matter! Maybe he just wants a car that will get him a piece of *** (read stuff magazine cars chicks dig) ... its scientificly proven a girl would much rather talk to you if you have a sports car than a ****box or no car at all (all thogh apparently they like SUV's the most!)

Also a car is definatly a self esteem booster. How much differently would you feel if you came to approach a girl and you had a station wagon with the wooden panels (lol), or a nice looking f-body or what have you... I would like to think that the girl likes me and not just the car. Whenever some dude comes by my campus with 20s, it just seems to attract a swarm of girls.

A car is definately a self esteem booster for males. I love it when you drive buy a bunch of guys or girls that are talking - you drive by - and all the guys/girls stop talking and gaze at your car in silence until they can no longer see it.

well i suppose i can put my .02 cents in, i've been talking to a lot of chicks about my car, and they like it because it's black, pretty, and me of course . most chicks dont care about the motor, or the aftermarket stuff, as long as the car looks good. you get a nice lookin car, and keep it clean and chicks will dig it.

but like said above get what u want not what others want. i didn't get my car to pick up chicks, i got my first 3rd gen before i could drive.... and it wasn't all that nice, could have been but i didn't have the time to make it that way.

All I meant about the "everyone" cares about image statement is that we all portray an "image". Some people use a car to portray it. (Not most of us). To most of us, our car is what WE like. But to some, their car is for image. We use other things to portray our image, not our cars,and it's different for everyone.

Caring about someones opinion, and molding your life around someones opinion are 2 completely different things.

And why are we still talking about picking up chicks in our cars? Like there's any question that our cars are NOT cool to other people anymore......That's why we stick together!

oh yeah, and back when i went to high school, we had all the ricers, we had rich kids, and we had real gear heads....we had a perfectly restored 69 firebird(w/ a 400), we had a custom el camino, a couple beautiful 2nd gen camaros. anyway, I noticed because i was into cars, but girls and anyone really who is not interested in cars probably never even noticed.

 

17 yr old gear heads with fully restored cars, i wish! Can you say Daddy? If it is a father-son project, that would be cool as hell but in this day and age, not too many. I always wanted to do that but my dad is a drunk and beats us. j/k, no offense to those who's fathers are acctual drunks.

86---actually the restored 69 firebird was a dad'n'lad project. he was a friend of mine. they also had convertable bird, and a 55 bel air. lucky kid, right.

 

lemme tell you kids a story real quick...

i've had my firebird for almost a year now & i don't think girls have ever run up to it and said "nice car"... even if i'm cruisin with the tops off (make sure you get ttops. everyone loves ttops)

so this one day my car's in the shop gettin some rear end work done & i'm cruisin around in this old rusted lemans rental car. as i'm on the way to pick up my firebird, a car full of 4 cute girls drives up next to me & they're giggling & waving and all & they were beside me looking over all the way to the repair shop.

so the moral of the story is, girls might be staring at you when you're cruisin around in your camaro or firebird, but you're usually goin too damn fast to notice

I can't afford so much as a wheel on any of those car, but I do love my thirdgen and I would not trade it for anything in the world, except for any of the cars mentioned above or $6000.

 

Let me say one more thing. If you are ugly, but have a nice car, you are not going to get any girls because you are just an ugly guy with a nice car. If you can become famous, you don't have to worry about getting girls, all you have to do is show up some place.

A great example is Flava Fla back in the earliest 90s. That's got to be one of the ugliest dudes I have seen, but because he was famous, the ladies were attracted to him.


I don't know about the rest of you guys, but it seems like when I am not dating anyone, there are only a few ladies that are attracted to me, but as soon as I do get a girlfriend, all of the sudden, all those girls that weren't attracted to me before suddenly are now.


I could car less if the car I drive attracts women or not. A nice car helps, but it is not the sole ingredient in making an image.

 

Whoever said if you want to impress a girl get a Mustang or a ***** was right. My brother got a '96 Mustang (3.8L and beat to hell) and all the girls were going crazy over it. I get a '92 Z28 Convertible (5.0L and nearly flawless) and nobody gives a chit. Give me a break, I didn't buy it to impress ladies, but please, it's a hot car.

alot of people at my school think I got the car to impress chicks.
they couldn't be more wrong, becasuse I got this car for me. I could care less what other people think about my car. most of the guys at school dont like my car because its so "old".
They only like new cars, I think they are afraid of actually working on a car and getting their hands dirty.

P.S. My ex-girlfriend liked my moms Saturn better than my camaro , so I dumped her. lol

 

The ladies seem to be more impressed with new cars. They don't seem to appreciate an older car, let alone a thirdgen.

 

I think that for a more muscle look, the non GFX cars have it, especialy running steel rims with white letter tyres (or centerlines)

the IROC / RS looks more like a sports car.

Of all the thirdgens...yeah that is true, but one disavantage we have to the t-top cars is girls can look at themselves in the reflection off the inside of the T-top...lol but yeah i have a few girls that like the vert.

I agree the person makes the car. I know for a fact when people I know see a camaro (expecially a black 3rd gen) they think of me. There are girls who will like you only for your car, but our cars aren't the type they like lol.

I would have to say there are girls that like **** but they are all pretty nasty if you ask me. There are girls that like the speed. But for the most part if you need a vette to get a girl thats pretty sad. Im pictureing the mid-life crisis guys in the vettes.

My opinion: girls dont care that much about cars, just dont embarrass them to be seen in your car and I think you will be okay.
