How do you like my tints?

I got my windows tinted back in August and took this crappy pic with a disposable camera which was just developed because I am lazy. What do you guys think? I have 5% on the back, and 20% on the sides. Side tints are illegal in Illinois, but I haven't gotten stopped yet

5% in back eh? Must be nice. We can only go 35%. But it looks great.

Wow, only 35%? That sucks man... are they really strict about it? Here we're allowed anything on the back, but none on the sides. Cops don't really care much about the sides, but if they pull ya over for something else and notice the tints, you'll most likely get a ticket for them. So if I get stopped, I'll just roll down my windows.

I was so paranoid like the first week or two I had the tints. Any time my radar detector went off, I would roll down the windows. But since then, many cops have passed right by me, even state troopers and highway patrol and they haven't said a thing.

But for you, if you went darker, you couldn't roll down the hatch, so I guess its good to play it safe.

I would like to tint my windows but I drove my friends Probe one night and he had his windows tinted real dark, I could barely see traffic out my back window, i didn't like that. But it looks awesome.

Well during the day isn't that much different. At night is hard, but people have lights on so its not as bad as I thought it would be. It took a week or so to adjust, but its really not hard. I usually back into my garage, and I was worried I wouldn't be able to judge it and hit something, but so far soo good

you sure, 35% is legal here, but on hatches, they can be blacked out.

Oh, looks good btw.

Well I got a deal at the shop cause a board member works there. It was actually quite a nightmare. They were gonna do all windows for $100, any tint. The place is 45 minutes away, and I had no way to drop off the car and come back home. So I got there, picked my tint, and they told me it'll be 4 hours. So I walk around town for 4 hours. I ate, went to the local Pepboys and Autozone, and was prtty bored. I went back, and it still hadn't been started. I waited another hour, and nothing. I went in, and asked what the hell the problem was. They said they ran out of 5%. On top of that, they put like 40% on my sides cause I would definitely get stopped for 20% which I asked for. I was pissed off. They said come back tomorrow and they'll redue the sides and take $20 off. So I did, and they did it in 4 hours, right tint and all. There is a small flaw on the hatch, and I don't like how they cut the tint towards the tops of the windows, but you can barely tell, I'm just really picky. For only $80, I'm satisfied.

Looks good, I don't remember seeing if the back hatch has any lines? is it done with one piece or did they have to cut it? Nice improvement. I have done it to both of my cars.

Anyone who plans to get some tint, be sure to request the new 3M tint that came out a few months ago. It will never turn purple over time. When I tinted my 92 B4C that I sold I got it 5% on the back and sides and 45% on the windshield. I got the new 3M tint and I highly recommend it. When I finally tint my 90 RS (after the paint and stuff is done) I plan to go with a custom reflective with green hue (car will be dark green) 2% on the sides and back and 40% on the windshield. I got my truck setup like that right now and I'm really happy with the look. Compliments billet accessories and billet wheels very nicely.

OOOOHHHHHH...TINTS! Not what I was thinking of Seriously, it looks great. I took the 35% tint off the side windows of my RS after a gung ho state trooper wrote me an $80 ticket for it. No warning, no second chance, just a ticket. Then he was all "Hey, this is a nice car", but I didn't really want to be his friend. I thought about putting the legal 50% back on, but that's barely tint. Not worth the money spent, IMO. I hate to rain on your parade, but I have a feeling that someday you'll cross paths with an equally bored power freak, and you'll have a problem. Good Luck.

The tint is all one piece, which is good. I've seen other cars with the strips and it looks horrible.

And a disposable camera will do until I get money and want to spend it on a digital camera.

Hmm... you roll em down at night, and keep em down during the day... whats the point of tints?

I like how yours look, I wish I could go darker, but I'd get stopped all the time so I'd rather have them a little lighter and not get stopped for them.

Well, if i had the choice id get them redone, a little bit lighter. During the day i do keep them down as much as possible, unless its so unbarably hot that i need the tops on, windows up, and AC on. At night.... eh. I keep them up if its real late and really cool out, but yeah, its a bitch. The moment i see the man, or think ill run in to him, they have to go down.

And seriously, its dark enough that the glare from the gauges bounces off the window, making it nearly useless to see out of at night.

One day i need new windows anyway (someone tried to break in the passanger side, its got a minor chip by the top) and ill get them lightened then.
