Keeping those chrome parts shined?

Any ideas on how to keep a mirror polished chrome part protected? Like, to keep that shine?

Is it polished or chrome? you mentioned both.

I like turtle wax's chrome polish w/rust remover in it, for chrome.

What I mean is...if you polish a metal component to a mirror finish, how can you protect it from scratching? I once polished a block of aluminum to a mirror finish (and I mean that it seemed like there was a mirror glued onto the polished side it reflected so well) and when it got dusty, even the most gentle of softest cloths scratched it. Is there something that maybe I could coat it with? That is, if I polish an engine part this much...

I guess I could just use "absorber" towels to wipe it down, as they dont scratch surfaces...they are a rubbery type of substance.

Any ideas?

I just used paper towels and windex ammonia free, or 100% cotton cloths when I wash the car.

By the sounds of it is a low grade aluminiumn so your up the **** as far as not scratching it unless its clear coated. I would us a good car polish to help stop it scratching, try 113 or another type that has a canuaba wax in it as this will type will not leave white crap everywhere.
