clear coat for rims???
i stripped the clear coat and everything off my rims today because they were all scratched and didnt look good at all, so i stripped them, polished them, adn then painted the black inside part of the rim (trans am wheels) a gloss black and it looks awsome, it all shiney and just makes them look great, but i dont want them to rust or anything, is there any way to put a new coat of clear coat on them?? if so where can i get it? thanks alot
After many months of research , I did not find any effective clearcoats that a DIY can apply. The un-coated polished rims may stain easier, but regular polishing ( every 3 months will maintain them). My DIY polished IROC rims have been fine for over 1 year.
Also Eastwood clearcoat in a can dosen't work effectively, I talked to their tech department. Try to polish with a buffer or angle grinder with buffing wheels, using the different compounds. The high speed heat seems to make the shine more durable.
Good Luck
