Keeping up my polished parts

I have tried a search but came up short on awnsers. Well last summer I got the plenum, runners, etc.. polished by another member on the boards who did a great job. But I was wondering what exactly I would need like a dremel for instance to keep these parts looking great. What products do you recommend also? I am a beginner to say the least but I would love to know how to keep up the polish myself. What bits would I need or what grit sand papers do you recommend I use on previously polished surfaces, but wanting to redo it to regain the optimum shine. I have looked in the tech articles and I am really trying to awnser the questions myself but I need help . I want to make it a winter project. Thanks guys!!!

a good aluminum polish should be all you need, and that is something even a novice can do if for some reason it does require some sanding touch ups, I'd just wet sand them with about a 1,500-2,000 grit 3M wet sand paper, those were the last stages when I did my rims

ammonia free windex should work fine, that's all I use on my wheels or car wash.

Just don't put wax on it, the abrasives in it can dull and scratch the shine.

thanks so far for the replies guys, I just wanted to see what would be needed. As for the wet sand do you just apply water while sanding or do you buy 'wet sandpaper'? Like I said I am a novice! What type of polish also? Thanks!

The abrasive paper is silicon carbide (black in color) find at a autoparts store that sells refinishing supplies. 1500 or 2000 grit.

To use it you want to wet the paper and after a few strokes dip it in a bucket of water to rinse the paper clean and then sand some more until the blemishes are gone (or evenly dull) then use aluminum polish like mothers to buff to shine.

Hey Mike hows it goin. I'm glad to see the shine is still good on the parts I did. I couldnt see the valve covers in the pic, are they still shiny too. I usually use the ammounia free windex like Mark said it does good. I need to go back over my plenum but I cant until I can walk again. Alot has happend since we last talked, two months ago I twisted my knee at work and tore my acl,had tears on both side ligament and badly tore my interior crucia liagemnt that is on the inside of the knee. That had to be cut out and I had to have a hole drilled into my tibua and fibua and 65 mm of hamstirng taken from my leg to make a new interior curcia liagment. Im hopeing next week I will be able to put weight on my leg when I go back to the doctor on wensday. The thing that sucks the most is I cant drive my baby or work on my baby
