The beginning of my custom fenders

Well i got the box in the mail today, my 1980-81 Fender Vents....

The pics are below......

I can't wait till i get these installed...

Anyway they are said to be functional on the camaros because they allow air to escape the engine bay therefore cooling it and reducing air from under the hood and reducing lift at high speeds......now does this have the same effect on thirdgens???

Flynlow92RS,

I can't believe you still had that photshop that I did. I lost that pic when my windows XP failed.

I would like to see you do it. If it is successful, I think I will try it on my Firebird.

There only so much in a name. And when you go custom you start to realize the name of who makes a product or who designed a style isn't important. What is important is the final look.

I'm now starting to think about some Aston Martin Volante side scoops, or maybe some Maserati mistral scoops. I don't give a *** what company created something. If I like it, and I want it, then I am putting it on my ride.

I said wasn't into this stuff anymore, but now I am more than ever. I would like the oppertunity to let some hot air out of the engine.

I like them a lot more than the Z3 ones. I can't wait to see the finished product.

I've often thought from day one, that the TA fenders with that gill, would look cool on a 'maro. If you haven't noticed yet.....I take after Jim, and I'm proud to be a stock-****, but damn that would look cool.

It really doesn't look that bad. I wouldn't do it, but it's not my car.

Ya know...I wasn't going to put them in my car either...but..I saw that one set in the dudes Camaro and it just looked so good and it stuck out.....he's had so many compliments on it.....and I was just speechless when I saw them in his fenders. So...that's why I'm doing it. If I know that it couldn't be done...I wouldn't even attempt it...but..I know it can.....and I'll have'em installed in mid May hopefully. I don't have anything angainst the stock guys either.....Camaros and Firebirds are bad *** no matter what...I just like to spice'em up a lil..! hehehe Looks like me and flynlow92rs are going to install them in our fenders.....and we will keep everyone updated while doing this....I think it's going to be a great addition...!

I have to say the same as a few of the other guys. 1st the vents look great

Next some of yall need to come off this import sucks, dont use any parts from them. If you start fabbing parts, building custom parts/cars you get idea's along with parts from many many diff makes and modles of cars.

Yeah I aint into imports, and I kinda think its dumb to try to build them to go fast, but damn some of them cars has great styled parts from the factory.

To name a few parts that could be fabbed to working on any car.
tail lights, door handles, break cooling vents, fender vents, gauge panels, seats, side skirts, etc

Now I aint talking about the messed up looking aftermarket ***** parts. I'm talking about OEM factory parts from some of the imports, along with some of the fords, mopars, etc.

There's alot of great looking parts on some of these cars, just think well ok I got a camaro, or trans am. I put these CRX seats in mine. I'm getting more support for hard driving, doin it cheap, and it dont make my car any less of a performer. Or just think the vents placed on/in the rear 1/4's of the newer mustangs. I think they look great, I never seen abybody put a set on a F-Body. It will look good, work, and be a true custom. It don't make your camaro a mustang does it?

I hear ya brother, but you may want to consider how much those vents will cost. Especially if you're not 110% sure you'll like the look when it's installed - if you take them out of the little plastic bag, you can't return them. That's half of my problem. I REALLY want the new Saleen Mustang vents (the ones behind the doors and in front of the rear tires) to put on my car - but I'm not sure how it'd turn out. Photoshop or not... when you're talking money... I'm also looking to get a single Z3 vent, cut it in half and put two of the vents on each side in the ground effects in front of the tires. Then I can make some ducting to take air from there to my brakes. I'd like to get into autocrossing later this year.

Steve
