Ground effects lining up....
Ground effects lining up....
The last time I took my car into the paint shop they did not put all of the bolts back into the front ground effects on my 92 bird. The problem with that is now they don't line up right and they aren't flush with the body. The top left hand part of the ground effects aren't even touching the body and there is a very small space in between the front nose and the ground effects. It looks like they weren't pushed all the way up and there is a 1/8 inch space for them to be pushed up. Can I just take them off and reposition them? Can those ground effects bend to the point where they don't go flush with the body anymore? Would ordering all the bolts and putting them in straighten the ground effects out? I've seen my car with the ground effects looking a lot more "stock" and I've seen other 92 birds and the ground effects are completely flush. What gives?

Dude........I have a 1992 Firebird also and had to replace the front bumper cover on it when I got it......in my experience the old one was all flush and the new one I had to work a little bit to get to line up properly.....sounds like the body shop didnt tighten up all the bolts on it when they did it....( might have rushed it )......im sure its something that you can fix yourself very easily.....a little bit of your time and 6 pack after your done..........
I just got done swapping the GFX (front end and sideskirts) on my 90 RS to the 91-92 style (Revlimit helped me out ALOT again). One of the keys to making the GFX fit flush is to make sure any brackets that hold them in place are straight. I guess whoever had removed the 91-92 style GFX that I installed had bent the brackets up a little. It didnt fit right untill I played with the pliars and the brackets a little. Now almost everything fits flush and the parts that aren't flush (warped from age or the elements maybe?) can be fixed with some good double sided tape. If you really want it to be flush you'll probably have to completely remove it, and reinstall it.
