I've got a 91 rs with the factory 16" rims with red accents. Since they are old they've faded and now look pink. I was thinkin of taking a dremmel and taking the paint off and cleaning them off with the dremmel too. Then I was going to put a laquer coating over them. Anyone ever done it or have pictures?

 

I had the same one's on the car until I brought new rims, I tried removing the paint and just gave it up. I have that airplane paint remover thingy that I'll try this summer. Won't the dremel leave scratches on the rims.

 

Shouldn't. I used steel wool to clean the rims and that worked. Now I'm gonna use the dremmel to get the hard stuff off and the paint. You can buy certain inserts for the dremmel that are for cleaning up aluminum and other types of metal without scratching it up.

 

ahaha i had the same rims on my old '91 RS...

it got to the point where the rims freaked me out and i sold the car

 

Its amazing what some board high school students will do

#3 We use paint stripper, polished the lips, spokes, and centers, and had a can of paint made to perfectly match his car. Taped everything up, and painted them.
