Thanks guys...I spent about 3-4 hours on the lid, and 6-7 on the plenum. I polished the button head screws also. I just put them one at a time in my cordless drill. spun them across some 400 grit, then polished with a rag and blue magic. They were the easiest I let the drill do the work. I sanded the plenum with an electric hand sander. It left some swirls I had to go back and sand out by hand.

schwing! :hail: Very nice job. Gave me an idea for my lid. Looks like you left the rough casting between the lines but removed it on the edge... I need to do that
Where did you get the nice bolts for the lid?

looks just as good as your rims, dude... outstanding... question i have about all this polishing, is what kind of "upkeep" does it require, as in how often do you have to polish, any kind of topcoat, clearcoat, etc.?

Lock...The button head bolts came with the plenum. I know jegs sales them in chrome. Not sure of the exact size, Should be in the install instructions somewhere. I can try and find them if you need to know the size.
I tried to sand between the ridges, but it looked like it was going to be a pain so I left it cast.
thunderstick...Good questions...IM new to polished aluminum. But from what ive read A 50/50 mix of cold water and a cleaner like simple green. Is the thing to clean them with. keep a good coat of wax on them for protection. And regular polishing IM sure will be required to keep them nice. Mine has been retired from daily duty so it shouldnt be to bad.
Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Wow, you did a great job. You did all of this with an electric vibrating sander and by hand? Where did you purchase the Blue Magic metal polish, what wheel(s) did you use and where did you purchase those? Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the replies guys I cant wait to get this thing back together.
Hey Lock...I cant find my install instructions. I know jegs carries the button head bolts. Not sure about summit. I just dont know what size to order or part number.. sorry. I put my bolts one at a time in my cordless drill and sanded with 320-400 grit paper Then put a little blue magic on a rag and spun them with the drill. Give that a try it worked for me. If there real bad you may have to use 180 grit then sand with finer ones before you polish.
Hey JMatlock88...Thanks..Yep I did it all by hand and with the sander.
You can get the polish at autozone for sure thats where I got mine. I just used a flannel type of cloth to get the best shine. Did that By hand too no motors or wheels. At first you can use a terry cloth type towel. But after a while you need something softer and a lighter touch to get rid of the haze. You cant just apply the polish a few times. You need to do it like 15 times or so. It will shine after the first time. But it takes alot more to get it to show a clear reflection. That stealth ram would look sweet polished! It does anyway, nice intake.
IM thinking about doing the runners next.
