Removing glue from paint

My buddy just bought a 92 z28 and the guy that owned the car before him had "G'd" it up pretty bad. We removed the chrome accents from around the wheel well and it left that hardened adhesion glue mess on the paint. Is there any "good" way to get that crap off without killing the paint job?

Go to your local auto parts store and pick up some adhesive remover. Rub the glue off with a soft rag/towel. I detail cars for a living, and what I actually do is take a razor blade and *carefully* cut off the top layer of the glue. Then I take some adhesive remover and just rub off the remaining layer of glue. I have never scratched a paint job doing this. Of course now that I said that i'll prolly scratch something tomorrow.

Oh also, i'm assuming the chrome strips (which in my opinion should NEVER be put on our cars) were put on with 2 sided tape. If this is the case you should be able to rub most of it off with your thumb.
