Carbon Fibre TA hood
Hey guys im getting a carbon fibre hood made up for my GTA this summer and i just wanted to see if there is anyone that would be interested in one. The hood is going to be a stock GTA hood with a 2 1/2 cowl. The picture below gives you an idea of what they will look like. The hoods will cost about $675 and will be direct bolt-on. They will have a rolled edge and will be about 12lbs. Since they will be using my stock hood for the mold they promise that the hood will not have any fitment issues, so that means no added costs to get the hood filed to fit correctly.
The company that will be making these hoods is CarbonfibreFX and their based out of Surrey BC Canada. You can check out there site @ www.Carbonfibrefx.com.
Anyways let me know if anyone here is interested, the more hoods we buy the cheaper they will be. Oh, they also do coloured carbon fibre.
The hood pictured was not made by CarbonfibreFX and is fiberglass, not carbonfibre

I don't think I would like to buy one because of the cowl and cost, but what does the stock hood weigh?

is that candian dollars or american dollars? i wouldn't buy one because i hate cowl hoods on trans ams. if it was a stock gta hood with the vents, or a ram air 1 hood, i'd probably go for it though.

ive been told a stock hood weighs about 60lbs. I was going to go with a stock looking hood (no cowl) originally but with the stealth ram and the lingenfelter TB and now the vortec supercharger discharge tube, i need the hood clearance.

If you get a hood with a scoop you can cut a bracket and their will be clearence for the Stealth Ram.

I did have clearance with the stealth ram and my stock TB after i cut ou the bracing but it just wont clear with the new Tb and blower discharge tube. Anyways ive made up my mind and im having one made. I just need another 3 people to get in on the deal so that he can start making them right away, otherwise i have to wait till close to the end of the year for him to start it.
The pricing i gave was in US dollars

I am going to call them on Monday to see when they can start making the mold. So if any of you are interested let me know asap. There is a better chance of him starting right away if he has more than one hood sold.
Theres a pic of a 2 1/2" cowl on a TA to give you a better idea of what they look like.

i guess it's cool that these guys make custom stuff... it makes it easy for those of us who can't do it ourselves.. i was pretty excited when i found out they're in the same city as me.
but then, i was looking up the price on a hood for my buddy's supra... 899.99.
900 bucks can sure as hell take a car further in engine mods than the 30 pounds it might save in hood weight.
just my opinion.. but i think they're shooting a little high.
