Plenum polishing question: Flat surface?
Ok, I have purchased an aluminum plenum extension, and have started sanding it down.
I have a soft foam sanding block, which seems to stay pretty level while I sand. Because the plenum extension has so many curves, I have just been hand sanding, and paying more attention to areas which have pits.
I am wondering if this will make everything uneven, and if it won't polish well once I am finished. Should I be using my sanding block to make sure everything is level? Or does it matter?
(This is my first polishing job, just want to make sure I'm doing it right!)

That sucks. I've donw about 1/2 of the top of the extention already with 120 grit, and it's pretty smooth, very very little pits at this point.
I just don't want the metal to be 'wavy'. Hopefully I won't have to sand more and bring more pits up.
