I have access to a buffer, my paint looks horrible, and am hoping this might make it look somewhat presentable, Any tips? What kind of compound do I use?

Never buffed before but If I mess up, I dont think it will look any worse then it does now so GIVE ME SOME TIPS please, lol

The beat thing I can teel you to do is wet sand it with 1000 grit wetsand paper then 1500 then 2000 then buff and glaze and wax

can you give better detail to the steps, just so I dont mess it up, lol all I know how to do is wash the crap off my car

Don't wet sand the clear if it is still the original finish because, the factory clear is not very thick and you'll sand through to the base color. Just buff the clear with a 3M foam buffing pad and 3M's foam pad polishing glaze.

Buff on a low speed using firm pressure and stay away from ridges.

firm pressure? how about no, that creats excessive heat from buffing, some pressure works fine. Plus the fast you get thing spinning(to an extent) the more gloss comes out, i have buffed quite a few cars....autobody shop....

just to clear the obvious... 1000 grit = really really thin and not rough! rough = no more paint
