Lg4 header install/AIR delete.

I'm not sure if this wire is a ground or where it goes. Also I would like any tips when installing headers.. The headers are already installed I'm just wondering if there's anything I need to know before starting.

Yes, that's a ground wire. Usually bolts to the end of the head. It would be best to have it attached before running (although it may not affect anything if it isn't).

looks to be the ground wire that goes under the bolt to the top of the alternator bracket up front.

Re: Lg4 header install/AIR delete.

So now that car is all back together and runs real nice, but when I let off the throttle there's some pops from the exhaust. Also At 6 degrees BTC, the engine idles around 590rpm, should be at 700rpm. Then i can advance it to around 12degrees and the rpms are at 700 during idle. Im just wondering if the advance is normal or does the quadrajet need to be adjusted. Also the AIR system has been taken off, but all the other smog equipment remains except o2 sensor and EGR.

Re: Lg4 header install/AIR delete.

set timing at around 0-4 degrees advanced with the four wire est connector disconnected at the distributor. reconnect and you should see the timing go to around 20 or so degrees at idle.

adjust the idle speed with the curb idle screw

a common cause of exhaust popping is failure of the throttle bump solenoid
