doug's headers d3321 fitment
Ok Iv read a lot of info on the doug's headers d3321. the headers seam to be ok if you have good motor mount... or so I though from reading. I have a 92 camaro RS that I just destroyed the motor in. The car had a junk yard 305 tbi in it when I bought it 2 years ago. In a rush I build an old 350 I had just siting around, nothing crazy a simple cheap build to get the car back on the road. I had intended on using the shorty headers that came with the car when I bought it (not on the motor, but with the car). The motor in the car had stock manifolds on it. I put the 350 in the car and went to put the headers on and the didn't fit. the shortys hit the "frame" where the flanges are on the back of the header. So because I was in a rush I decided to buy headers. I bought doug's headers d3321 silver ceramic coated, and might I say they are very nice looking but that's about it. They don't fit well at all, the drives side will bolt on but is just touching the K member and the passenger side hits the K member and wont even bolt onto the motor. I put energy system motor and trans mounts in when I lifted the motor up to fit the headers in. So no I don't have old saggy mounts I have new poly mounts. I'm going to cut the K member and make the headers fit. Dose any one have words of wisdom about making the headers fit any other way... I don't want to hear about omg don't cut the K member I'm a mechanical engineer and I can do the calculations on the straight of the K if I cut it, I cant spell but I'm crazy good with numbers. All I want is other suggestions... thanks for your time.

Re: doug's headers d3321 fitment
I had to cut quite a bit off of the control arm mounts, but nothing on my crossmember. I had the hedmans in before but when i went to put the d3321 in, it was hitting in a seperate spot, so i had to cut more away from the control arm mounts. Before its road worthy i am wanting to weld a supporting piece onto the mount to give myself some more reassurance that it can handle the loads

I just installed those same headers on my 91 Z/28 and I had zero issues, in fact the long tubes went on easier then those stupid shorty headers I used to have.

I agree, ive seen on here that people had trouble getting the drivers side in, mine just slid right in, but passenger side i needed to trim or dent the header, i chose to trim to make it sit flat to the head

Re: doug's headers d3321 fitment
I hate posts that are never finished and I know it can take some time to wrap a job up so I'm finally ending my story. I hope my pitchers can help someone else as I wish I had them before I bought my headers. This is only the second set of headers I have ever had. The first set was a par of headman headers for my s10, they fit fine NO problems. Then there is this set of doug's I don't recommend this set to any one who dos not want to put 2 full days of work into them and the car destroying both. my header on the passenger side still needed to have a big dent in it to fit.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the pics. I know you don't recommend, but I picked them up locally and really need to free up the exhaust for my 383. The pics do help. Thanks.
