Open Loop Idle and Cruise

Decided to Make a patch to force open loop at idle and while cruising.

To read the Logic look on the right. Pretty simple. Also allows Hiway Mode Spark to keep working.

Let me know if you think anything else should be added.

Edit: Added a KR check that if above a threshold it will enter closed loop and clear the hiway timer which would drop timing back down based off your hiway spark adder table.

Re: Open Loop Idle and Cruise

That’s a solid approach and I get why you’re doing it, especially if you’re trying to stabilize idle and light cruise behavior. Forcing open loop can definitely help smooth out some transient fueling issues, and it makes sense that you’re keeping highway mode spark active.

One thing I’d be careful with is long-term fuel trims drifting, since extended open loop can sometimes mask underlying VE or injector scaling issues. Your KR-based fallback to closed loop is a smart safeguard though. You might also consider adding a coolant temp or ECT timer condition so it doesn’t stay in open loop during warm-up or extended steady cruise when trims would normally help. this was a boredom exercise for me. I have no use for it. But if you or anybody else wants this finalized this is exactly how to get changes made tailored to your needs.

Pretty sure that's a bot account, there seems to be a few of them on the site. Look at the one other post they have, plus the post in this thread reads like an AI write-up.

Seconded, been seeing a fair amount of bots pop up in the last few months. For whatever reason, a lot of them list their location as "GB".... obviously not saying every British person here is a bot, but I do wonder why the bot accounts seem to pick GB. Probably the same code being run across different accounts, if I had to guess. Also been noticing a strangely high amount of traffic on the site, you can see it in the "Who's Online" section. I mean, when I started typing this, there were 2100 unregistered users online. Now, just a couple minutes later, there's 2500 and steadily climbing. Makes me think that someone (or some group) is using TGO to "train" some form of AI on this site, and accounts are being made to test replies for accuracy or somethin.... seen the user count up close to 10k (at 6am EST on a Wednesday iirc), but the site record seems to reset every now and then. Could just be me being paranoid (I am vehemently anti-AI), maybe there's no correlation between the two oddities at all, but that's the theory I'm running with for now. Let's just hope this isn't one of those bot accounts that comes back in a week and edits their messages to have strange links, seen that a couple times recently too...

Test. Maybe I have been caught up in some kind of bot protection system on the site.

Everything I have tried to post today has been ate by the site. It was there then it was gone. I even started a thread in the site help section about my problems and the site ate it too.

Can anyone see this?

The mountain biking forum I frequent has been having the same issues. It was bad enough to exceed the allotted resources for the server and shut the site down multiple times per day for about a week. I don't know what the admin did to fix it, but it was somewhere along the lines of blocking guest browsing. I think GoDaddy ultimately patched something or plugged the hole that was being used.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was some mass scale ai crawlers unleashed on the web at large.

Thanks guys.

Maybe it was a temporary site bug and my replies will show up later.
