fine cut....now what, please help
fine cut....now what, please help
having never buffed or polished a car before (just hand waxing, thats it) I need some help and advice here.
I got the underside coated yesterday and picked it up today. Upon closer inspection there was a small bit of overspray on the drivers side in a couple spots (sail panel, rear quater). This is black on red paint. I pointed it out and he tried liquid cleaner and then Maguiars fine cut. NOw the fine cut has left hazy type scratches (he was doing it by hand).
What is the next step, do I have to polish or buff this (what's the difference?). Obviously something before waxing right? Also, the fine cut (and other products) actually take paint off do they not?? How much does it thin it out and can you actually do it multiple times in an area or just once??
FYI, This is acrylic enamel.
greatly appreciated.

I've had that happen on my Z28 before....the first thing I tried was "bug and tar remover" it worked great. Did it all by hand, came off really well. After I used the bug and tar remover, I polished the rest of the paint the "Crystal Shine made by Car Bright. In your case.....it sounds like you shoud maybe try "Perfect It III" by 3M....this stuff works wonders. You HAVE to use it with a highspeed buffer for it to work right though. You can pick it up at automotive paint shops....about 20 bucks.

if worst comes to worst and it ends up looking bad and you just dont want to mess with it.. did you say a shop oversprayed? well.. why not have them repaint what they oversprayed? I mean.. it was their fault right? lol! FREE PAINT JOB! hehe.. that would be cool. Call the insurance agency and tell them this company screwed up your paint. lol or just try stuff that gets it off like the others say.

What exactly is the "3M Perfect It" stuff? Is it a polish or an abrasive or something else?
It's a buffing compound...I used it after I wetsanded my whole car...and it worked great.
