What do you think?

I have an old front end sitting around in my garage that i decided to sand down and use this can of plasti-kote vehicle paint on. so i sanded it down using 120, 240, 320, and 400 then i brushed the dust off with a fine paintbrush and sprayed the paint on. it didnt fisheye or crackle and since i dont have the money to paint my car i was thinking i might take my present front end off and try painting that since the corner on the passenger side has a huge spot where the paint is falling off and must have gotten rubbed on something before i bought it a year ago. what i want to do is sand it down to the bare fiberglass and then flex primer the whle thing then mask off the headlight pockets and spray 3 coats of paint and 4 coats of clear. does this sound good? do you consider this a decent or good fix for about a year until i can afford to get a professional paint job?

That sounds good, but have you considered renting a compressor and HVLP paint gun, or taking the front bumper cover off and asking the body shop how much they would charge to paint it? I know you said you couldn't afford a professional paint job but I wasn't sure if you meant the whole car or just the bumper. It's usually not that much if you bring the part to them pre-sanded and ready to paint. If not then I'd go the way you said, make sure if you're painting the headlight pockets black that you do that last.

not the whole car right now just the front piece. i might try a fender if the front goes well and see what happens. the car has no clear coat right now anyways so its pretty dull and this might be the temporary fix im looking for. the paint i am using is medium silver metallic and i think the little flakes or whatever in the paint that makes it "metallic" is what makes the paint look half way decent. i held the painted one up to my existing one and the paint matches and the front piece is the only part with some clear still on it. i think im going to go ahead and do it and see how it goes.
