Wheel adaptor ?

Wheel adaptor ?
What exactly are the wheel "adaptors" for the 4th gen wheels to put them on the 3rd, are they just like adaptors you bolt onto your stock studs, and they have studs on them? if there the same bolt pattern and only worry about the offset on it. then couldnt you get longer studs and use thick spacers? i dont know much about the adaptor thing but let me know how it is supposed to be...

Longet bolts with spacers on it would not be a good idea. That would cause a lot of stress on the bolts and bearrings and make it verry easy to brake. Here is a picture of one of my adapters, I got the them from fbodymotorsports.com

I have a couple of questions:
I'm going to install a Moser 12 bolt from a 4thgen soon.
Then I want to run a 17x11 ZR-1 wheel on the back.
and
I also want to run a 17x8.5 on the front.
So, would I still needs spacers at all?
I know that if you run 17x9.5 Zr-1's up front that you need like a 2 inch spacer, right? So would I still have to run a 1 or 2 inch spacer in front for my 8.5's?
Is there any specific offset I need to get the rear 17x11 rims in? Or, should they mount up fine and not rub at all beings I'll have a 4thgen length rear?

your right about the 2" up front but I don't know about the back witht the 4th gen rear. I bet you could find out really quick on camaroz28.com there is probably a lot of people there who have done that.

if you have a 4thgen rear, and you want to run 4thgen offset rims, you dont need any spacers on the back.... just 2 on the front.

you're going to have to do a little "massaging" to get the 11" rims to fit perfectly, I ran a slip on 3/8" spacer on the back of my car (99 Z rear) with a little longer studs to flush the rim with the outter wheelwell. My rims are 9.5 and are a close fit... I believe the 11" Zr1's have a slightly deeper offset... not sure though!!

to fit the max 11" rims, you're going to have to tap a lil on the inside bump near the top...
you'll probly want a adjustible panhard rod to keep the rear centered perfectly..
and you need to measure to see if they fit.... with smaller wheels, you can afford to be off a lil bit....... with the 11" ones wedged in there, you cant be off at all.

I will be ordering a Hotchkis adj. pan-hard bar soon, but I wont have the 4thgen 12 bolt for awhile. The 17x11 ZR1's wont go on until the rear is swapped.
I understand that I will have to massage the inner fender wells a little, and I will adjust the center of the rear with the pan-hard bar.
But I should be able to get away with running the 11 on the back with the 4thgen rear with-out using spacers, right?

RE:offsets
Getting the 17X11's on is definitely possible. As for the adapters: You have to find out the offset for those wheels. I've seen different sets, some with a high offset and others with a lower offset. The high offset (50-56mm?? IIRC) will fit right in there without adapters on the rear. Any lower offset and you'll be getting an adapter of a different thickness (<2").
