Ok I'm in the process of polishing and painting the inserts on my 91-92 Z wheels. There sanded and ready for the buffing wheel, I just have a few questions I couldn't find answered in other threads.

-Do I wait until they are completely polished to paint them? ...or should I paint them before completely polishing to avoid messing up the polish job if I have trouble removing overspray?

-Is it ok to use non high-temp paint (rattlecan) if I use high temp primer and clear? I plan on painting them a specific color that I will probably have trouble finding at all let alone high temp.

-Once I finish with the white rouge should I use some aluminum polish? If so would it be beneficial to use a dremel to apply it or will that scratch the finish from the white rouge?

-Also about how much of each of the compounds should I plan on having to use? They sell I believe 16 oz bars at Home Depot I would rather just use one or two of those then have to order it but if I'm gonna need a ton it would be beneficial. I don't plan on doing much polishing after this so I don't really need extra compound.
Thanks

He wants to know if he should paint before or after he polishes.

Then he wants to know if he has to use a high temp paint if he uses a high temp primer and clear coat.

I didn't think that rims even got hot enough to require high temp paint? Then again there are lots of things I don't know.

Not sure about the last two.

k I'll reword the last two and see if it helps

After using the initial compounds with the polishing wheel, I'm doing final polishing with Mothers Billet polish should I use a cloth bit on the dremel or would that do more harm than good (dremel or terry cloth..which one?)

Dont worry about the last one..I already bought stuff from HD so I'll just have to buy more from there anyways instead of ordering.

Tha answer to your last would have to be no Dremel becuase I have tried it both ways and the Dremel left sreakes on it that I could not get out. So I tryed it with a terry cloth and it woorked perfect. I believe the mothers alum polish is just to protect your polished alum.

Post pics when you get done b/c I need to polish my GTA wheels soon

Cool thanks, I'd heard of people doing this to polished wheels that hadn't been cleaned in awhile. I should have the two I'm working on polished in the next few days..then I just have to wait for warm weather to paint them
Ill post pics
