Yep mines almost done
edit: heres the link, couldn't get the files small enough to post on here.
Good thing its gonna be mostly a track car...So interior is not a priority. All it needs is a cage a seat, shifter and steering wheel..Oh yea and a lil red button.

The fenders were shot and will be replaced with new ones. i will be going with an aftermarket hood so there was no need and the doors had no real bad rust spots. however i may have them done in the furture if needed

Im wondering if my motor is messed up because my alternator is on the left side and A/C is on the right side, in the pics of other peoples motors on this thread it is opposite. Also my A/C isn't even hooked up to anything any more and i dont plan on ever using it, can't i just take it out? Or do i need that belt to help run the power steering?

Heres a pic of my engine. Been working on this car off and on since Feb. 2002. Should FINALLY be running the end of june

Not thirdgen related... but it's my real project car... not my 88 Camaro heh.
My 67 has been sitting for about a year now... went away for school for a year. After I get some decent paint on my 88 Camaro, fix the motor 100%, and some other "small stuff".... time to start working on the 67 again (back for good from being away). Got a decent start on the parts.. all the original parts... roller block, 9", new 4.11s, Trak lok, 4 link stuff, T56, the tail lights I want, RS (fold away) headlights, and some other stuff.
Sandblasting it here (hooked 4 compressors w/ tanks together... could sandblast all day heheh)... on a jig that we built to be able to have easy access to the entire car. After it got blasted I sprayed it down with ospho:

Can't wait to start working on it again

My Iroc is dead about 6 months out of the year. Least that's been it's track record for the past 3 years.
1st owner: Garaged all it's life, 1988-1998
2nd owner: No garage, beat the hell out of it, sat for a while, 1998-2000
3rd owner (me): No garage, has died twice and sat for 6 months each time (clutch, tranny, gas lines, etc.)
Still dead right now, awating the tranny and flywheel to be installed.

Man, this thread hits a little too close to home. My 'vert has been in various stages of disrepair since October of 2000 when I got the bright idea to swap in a TPI 355. Here I am nearly 4 years later, horribly in debt, and it sits at my parents' house with a 355 topped with a carb (not running just yet), paint peeling on the hood, one flat tire, a leaky tranny fitting, brakes are probably shot, carpet mildewed, and who knows what else.. Fixing it up has cost me more money and caused more problems than if I had just had a dealer install a new 305 and sent me on my way. Some day the green beast will return to the roads of the TX hill country. Until that day I will be very sad.

I like this thread. So I'm not the last one to have a car up on blocks still this spring.
I have three trannys on the floor and none in the car right now. For something different, here's the interior.

Mine has been on hold or SLOOOWW mo for 2yrs now. Desided to buy a house. after I pay for our wedding come August It will be back on the roll again. Ive just been collecting parts for when I have some time off again. mandatory Over Time is killing me.
But Hey Its paid for My Turbo,Tubular K member, complete 4thGen Int. swap. 9inch rear going in. and 418cubes.
my 92Z

and as It sits right now. LOTS of changes.
4thGen Dash Mock up/trial fit. Will be pulled back out for 8point cage and paint.

Targa Conversion

I've already striped the bay and Int. to metal and por15ed it all. Underside is next. Then finish sanding for HOK paint. I'm powdercoating everything that can be done also. The Joys of doing Powder and ceramic coating myself.
I wont even get into my 91 Vert or it will be a long post. Well just say its gona be a from the doors forward replacement because it was a collision car. I think I may either use the parts for my 92 or just do a 4thGen front firewall forward like Fatall88 did.

Well, mine was down about a year and a half. It got a 350(ported heads, Hooker LT's, dual exhaust, Performer rpm, was q-jet but eventually put 750 demon on), T56, 3.45 9 bolt, electric cluster, GTA seats, new rear carpet, alum driveshaft, electric fans, stainless brake lines, bendix pads, new tires, PBR rear brakes, ect...
Well, spring of last year I got it on the road. It was awsome. I drove it about 5 or six months, and then I was having problems w/ it which turned out to be the cam chewing the lobes(I have read about several instances of this w/ the xtreem energy cams fairly recently). Anyway, about the same time I was going to fix the problem, my car got keyed.
So... now it has been siting since the end of last summer. The plan is to get it painted this summer, I am going to fix some minor rust on the passenger side floor board, put 3.70 gears in(already have 3.45's out and should be selling them today). Hoping to put a 400 in it but have a 350 w/ cam and sportsman II heads that will probably go in temporarily with my other parts while I build it. I hope to at least have the body done by the end of the summer and it will go together pretty easy from there(done the rest before a few times(between mine and friends cars) so it is pretty easy. My biggest enemy is lack of funds.
You can go here to see what it origionally looked like I need to upload pics of it now when I get time. http://www.geocities.com/my1985ta/
Now it has no interior including the dash, heater box, panels, carptet. All just metal. Engine is out and most of engine bay is stripped to get ready to paint. No glass( including windshield, bumpers ground effects, doors, transmission, gears are out. To top it off, it is stripped to metal getting ready to be painted. All the weather stripping is removed to be replaced and to allow painting. It is about a project and a half. And all this after i was so happy to have it to drive again nearly a year ago now.

With any luck I hope to fire the engine up for the first time this weekend.
I started this project in April of 2002 with the engine. Then I bought the car on July 25th of 2002. Rebuilt the rear end in Jan of 2003. Bought our first house in May of 2003 and had to throw the car together as best as possible so I could drive it 10 blocks to my new garage. Drove it with no seperator plate gaskets, could hardly keep any gear. Ripped the engine out in Aug of 2003. Dad and I rebuilt the tranny in Nov. of 2003. Got the new 355 installed in March of 2004.
Still have to paint it too.
$12,000.00 and counting. Wife has been good to me, but still once in a while complains about how much it has cost, but only once or twice this year so far. I am very greatful for her support.

Well i must say im probably the farthest behind on my project car. Within the next few months or so, i am going to begin building the "Ultimite Thirdgen". Talk is cheap but this is no BS. I am 100% committed to this project, and i cant wait to get started. Right now im at Phase 1, finding a donor car. Ive given a lot of thought to this and here is my plan so far.
Start with clean 87-88 Iroc
383 all forged 4blt main
AFR 195s
Holley Stealth Ram
Vortech Supercharger, 8psi
T-56 6sp
Currie 12bolt rear 3.73 or maybe 4.11
Baer disc brakes all around
SFCs, STB, Tubular k-member and a-arms, panhard rod, and LCAs
Top it off with some beautiful jet black paint and some C5 rims and there ya go. Im still undecided about the little stuff. Oh well, its a 3yr project at best. What do yall think?

Here is our new project.
1988 Iroc.
Originally 305 5spd car
Medium Orange Metallic
Breechwood interior
It now has a mile 350 in it.
Its put on the back burner for the time being, we just got a good deal, and couldn't pass it up.
The car has some odd options too.
G92 involving the Engine oil Cooler and 3.45 Geared 9 bolt disc braked rear.
5,252 where offered with the G92
14,963 with the Engine oil Cooler.
16,176 with power seats.
12,620 with the 305 Tuned Port.
3,010 with Medium Orange Metallic
So we are kinda thinking the car may be a little bit on the rarer side.

Well the 82 ta, which was supposed to be done this time last year is still in this current state. After LT1guy's previous employer decided to move to TX...there was no good place to work on the car with all the essentials. So it was off to storage. Recently it has come out and is at LT1guys house. Though progress is still non-existant due to a few other issues...
Same story for my ScoutII.
See the big hold up recently was the theft of my Dually. We have been working to get it back up and running. It was stolen in Nov from my job and recovered w/ no engine, trans, radiator, battery, and the wires cut to crap! So it has been being slowly rebuilt with a 500ci Cadillac motor.
And with this current fiasco, RAIF is still the daily driver. B/w vandalism in the past, problems w/ the insurance companys, and the truck getting stolen....I'm a bit too nervous to keep driving him everyday.
SO...in steps the new project that was supposed to be done for me by a friend, but had medical problems and could not do the work...the daily driver Pulsar! I knew nothing of imports before this and have found out quickly why so my Pulsars are just junked. Nissan engineering has me going nuts! The head was messed up on this car due to the owner not changing the timing belt in time. So I get a junkyard head, have it rebuilt ans think we can just swap it in!
Nope... in typical style a small project becomes so huge! We decide to pull the engine... then the engine look so dirty...clean it...oh heck why not paint it while its out...well the engine bay looks bad, lets paint it... Well now the car looks like it exploded. Finally everything is painted and reassembly is taking place. Everything looks awesome! We also figured while it was this far down replace the necessary things! I will never complain about finding parts for RAIF again. Just finding struts for the Pulsar was a mess. Then I figure why not lower it...sheesh! Everything has to be cross referenced back to the Sentra... What a pain! It will be a great looking daily driver though!
Once its done it will be back to the Dually...then the 82 or Scout...not sure which!

I'm getting closer! What you can't see in this pic is the fact it is sitting on jackstands, the rear end is sitting on a jack connected by LCA's and tq arm, the gas tank is behind where i'm taking this pic,
As I get closer and closer to getting it back togther I am having doubts, if i can get it running , if I will even finish it, will it even move in the next couple of months before I have to tow it to Mississippi. I am excited to get the motor back in the car but I am kinda worried!
Then I am kinda worried about towing it back! I am planning on pulling the drive shaft and putting it on a tow dolly! but i only have a 2000 V-6 5 speed sliverado! I towed a 98 monte carlo from San Diego to Groton, CT with it but that was when it was new! it was kinda tough on the clutch!

MOVING...well lets see maby if i push it..lol..all the parts are there..so close but yet so far away..

how about mine started as a running 89 iroc 350 tpi needed to smog her failed so miserably bad...need cats and egr..so i start with egr valve...than i notice intake manifold gasket leak...than..I NOTIES VALVES ARE BURNED BADLY...so i just put it backtogether and still not running...after i go to start her...starter blew up from bad flywheel...so now ima put in that t-56 i paid over 2g's to have custom built..im going to do a complete rebuild after i get the money..
Well, I aquired the '91 in December '03. So far, I replaced both the fenders, nose, hood w/ a T/A bulge hood. I still need to raise up the rf corner of the rad. support back up. Car was in slight fender bender before I got it. Needs tweeked about an 1 1/2 or so. It's not real bad, I just don't want that many body spacers. The whole interior is out of it save fore the dash. Car had no winshield in it for about a month before I got it. So, carpet, seats and such were crap...lol. Also need the rs rocker panel gfx and those EVER elusive front fender pieces.
As it stands right now, I'm gonna start smoothing out the various dings and such soon. G0d I love working on cars

I have my fingers crossed on today because it should be coming to a close. It has taken quite some time and I already have parts stockpiled. Can't wait to put my GTA's on and the HSR this winter.
Well, even though this is kinda old, I just started tearing into my project. So mine was once movable a short time ago. But it seems like I have the same problem as most of the other people on here. Time and money. There's never enough of it, right? Anyway, I hope this thing doesn't take forever and I'm able to show you guys the finished product before the internet goes out of style! Its an 86 lg4 iroc w/5-speed. Soon to be minus the 305 and in place an AFR headed 383, but that seems like it's so far off.

so a couple of questions how long does it take to strip a car bare, to a shell??, how many parts and interor can you save along with wiring, i would eventually like to do that to my iroc want to get a bad *** paint job, time for a color change i start the class in january
as far as on the road again maybe in a month....very long story the car has sat longer than ive owned it

The time to strip a car depends on if you've done it before and how carefull you want to be. If you need to label every nut, bolt and wire along the way for reassembly, it'll take a while. If you're just tearing it apart and not reusing much of it, yiou can tear it down in a weekend (assuming the correct tools and maybe some prior experience).
The time and money comes in mostly when you say "well i might as well do this" and "might as well do that".... like replacing rubber hoses, cleaning or replacing fuel lines, all the little stuff. Definitely think it out before you dive in. Write down what needs to be removed for your purpose and what will be reused.
Oh and some crap will always pop up that you didn't expect... like say the previous owners welded the headers to the y-pipe so they won't slide off the engine when you're lifting it out. Yea... that was a late night.
