Wow, that's helpful.

It appears to be a modified version of the twin turbo hood...

I would definately sneak out at night and install that on one of the neighbors' mustangs. Then sit in my window and giggle with delight.

Oh my I'm gonna have nightmares about that for awhile.. it does look like a twin turbo with the middle cut out, but I wasn't even aware they made those for birds or atleast I never saw one

That thing is horrific. Whoever would put that hood on their car willingly, should seek serious mental help immediatly!

Looks fugly, but the car looks to be a drag only car that someone needed to make a cold air intake for. With the time on the car, who can argue. Drag cars need not be pretty, just functional.

I think that design started back in the late 70's or early 80's on some custom corvettes. Over the next few years they evolved on to other custom hoods for camero and firebird. the style was made noticable in a movie "corvette Summer" I think the movie was about a teen auto class in high school that moded and customized a vette and it get's stolen. The design wasn't popular
for very long though, that's why you don't see them very much.
Several different versions were available. They didn't hold up very well and were suseptible to cracking and paint chipping.
Needless to say, they were flimsey! My wife's girlfriend has a T/A with one on it, a maroon custom paint and it looked good when she bought it. Now it looks like poo. After a couple of years it's cracked and pealing from opening and closing it.

Ok, you got me! I forgot the old 'comparo to the camaro' thing.
Truth is, I never owned one. I've always been a bird man! Even putting a corp. engine in it can't take away it's style!
I wonder how many read it before you caught it?
