Anyone have a fix for side window pads scratching?

Its those dang guide pads with felt or "flock" on them that wear out and scratch the side glass. I can get new ones from the dealer "again" but I was wondering if anyone has a better solution or tried to repair/replace the felt material perhaps with something better? They just don't seem to last very well at all. I did a pretty thorough search for this and came up with practically nothing which surprised me considering most of us have had this problem. Anyone with advise here would be much appreciated. Thanks

Go to the junkyard and get several sets out of the newer (95-00) models. They are similar to the 3rd gens guides.

That would be the cheapest way. Or you could just go out and buy new ones from Hawks.

Unfortunately, my side windows are pretty scratched up. I don't know how much new side windows cost, but I am not looking forward to spending the money on them.

Sonar,

You could probably find some good windows in the boneyard, also check with the dealership and find out what years are compatible with yours.

Luckilly in my case I have had tint on the car before any scratches started showing. I hope that it is only the tint that is scratched as it was last time but it is worse this time round so I will have to wait and see. Good tip on trying fourth gen guides I never thought to try them. I have not noticed any with the same scartches as ours but they are still kind of new for that probably. I was thinking that there must be a better material to put on in place of the original stuff. Maybe a glass shop would know. I will check into this some more and post anything worthwhile I find. Hopefully someone else may also have some good tips. Thanks guys.
