Help with Stickers

I have a 1986 Trans Am and the Sticker or i guess the strip that runs along the body kit is falling off. Well not falling off the part that shows color is falling off, but the sticky part is still on the car. Some of the sticker is in tact and some is apart. My goal was to take is off without messing up the paint. I heard of using a heat gun, but i'm scared that i might ruin the paint. Any easier ideas?
