The material came in today....cut them out to fit my wheels....simple as that. I'll get some better pictures when I get my car out...but these are for now....what do you think..?

I made all 4 of them. I went to a flooring store and bout 1 sheet of 12 feet by 2 feet checkered vinyl, made a template, and cut them out...easy as that. All of the material cost $22.00 bucks

I looked for hours trying to find something like this..I found nothing....so..I got to brainstorming..and this is what I came up with..

I have a black car also and go to shows, that would be easy to transport not real heavy.. how thick is that material?

that's exactly why I only wanted the 4 squares...very easy to transport..not big and bulky like the whole car mats. The material is only like 1/16 of an inch, very thin...doesn't even need to be backed with anything. But...they won't sit well in grassy areas....only on pavement...no big deal to me though

mostly for cosmetic....just to spice up the surrounding area

But, when I want to clean my wheels...I could just sit on the mats and not get my pants all dirty...so..yeah..I guess there is a function

I think a big mat like that would look nice. maybe one that could roll up and fit in the back seat?

i thought you wanted the ones that went aruond the tire, or was that just an idea you had. I dont know what to think about those. Ive never seen anyone with those, so i dont know, what about them being a little smaller.

looks good, glad to see it worked out for you.

i think it doesn't compare to having it all around the car or completely under the car but it's much more practicle. a somewhat unique idea to set yourself apart at local shows which is always good.

personally, I think they stick out too far from the tire, should remove a full square...

I was wondering if anyone was going to notice that..lol

Thanks for the compliments guys. I thought about cutting off one square...so they would stick in a bit more...but..the way I see it....people should know not to get any closer then the tiles...guess I'll see how that works out

If there were any majoe shows around here...I'd definently be interested in getting a full car mat....but really...the only huge show that occurs here is the "James Dean Festival" and I doubt I'll bring my car there....these were just something to spice the surrounding area up. I've already had 5 people wanting me to make these for them at that cruize in...and a dude in a 68 Camaro is going to pay me big bucks just to detail his engine bay

notice how the larger squares make the car look like a toy. that's why 1' squares look better overall and are used more then the smaller ones.

either way it looks good, by the way is that ferrari real. i know the 308's and similar are small but that looks like a kit car off of a fiero. makes your camaro look like a boat.

That is so strange, I've been wanting to go to that for years....most especially now that the museum has opened in Gas City. James Dean was the man!

I really haven't gotten a chance to even look at it. It has been at the local cruize in the past 2 times....and dozens of poeple have gathered around to check it out....so..I'm not for sure. Next time I head out there...I'll check it out.

BirdsofPray- The James Dean Festival is a GREAT show...tons of cars...tons of swap meet stands....everything about it is great. I have went for the past several years...but haven't brought my car. I have only seen a hand full of thirdgens there...and every year....it rains...it's really weird but every year...it rains like a typhoon. There are definently some awesome old school cars there....if your ever around this area...you should drop by, it's a good time.

That's pretty sweet... if you can't afford to paint your entire garage checkered it's a good alternative, lol
