Graboid that's because of a few things with number 1 mistake any thirdgen owner can make by going with a staggered size like the 19/20 combo. beautiful car but a few things off like that can really throw it. probably has something in the rear weighing it down too which doesn't help.
IROCFAST i respect what your saying and don't doubt the guy told you 40 hours but if that were the case it would have had to been someone who had no idea what they were doing. harwood hoods are typically some of the more decent shaped hoods and it looks as if there isn't any real custom pieces done to the actual hood. i could see 40 hours if that included the custom detailing with paint as it probably took a weekend to decide how he wanted to paint it but i doubt it took 40 just to prep it. i have over 14 hours into my ss hood and that was extreme just to make it perfect.

I think 40hrs time could be possible only if it was a hood from Unlimited Products lol! THE most terribly made hood that I had ever purchased
yeah i've heard some bad things, my ascd wasn't that bad but i wanted it perfect so it took some time to rework the edges smoothing seams and whatnot.....40 hours and i could have made a duplicate for sure. now if you count paint and prep and everything else i'd have that but definately not just to get it ready.

To answer your questions:
The reason it took him 40 hours because it has about 2-3 inches of to much fiber glass on the sides, so it had to be cut to fit. Also, it came with no mounting holes, brackets, or anything to get it on the hood; it all had to be made. And I'm sure the custom paint on the cowl didn't help either, lol.
He also said that it is so light weight that when he is going down the highway, the edges actual start to lift up and flap in the wind

2-3 inches on EACH side, no mounting holes?....
I don't know what's worse the fact it was so horribly built or the fact the guy looked at the hood and accepted it instead of returning it and saving himself 20-30 hours worth of work....
Even with the custom paint, 40 hours? It's 3 stripes with a little airbrush work on the bottom, it's not a full out custom mural.....
and since when do hoods ome with hinges, last time i checked you use the stock ones......

I was just simply stating that 40hrs would not be out of the question depending on what he was starting with. Consider the fact it is a dark color also. FLYNLOW92rs, I don't think that the "3 stripes and a little airbrush work" would be quite as easy as you are making them out to be. Masking would take some time also, consider there are probably 6 different colors in that combo, Each takes time to mix. I am not trying to start a war here, but give credit where credit is due. The fact that this guy seems to have did it all himself, is awesome.

Fiberglass always seems to need work, even a few "high quality" name brands needed an obscene amount of work for them being so expensive. Even our goodmark steel hoods do not fit perfect, granted, they are better than most fiberglass hoods, but not perfect.

Getting back on topic, those cars, all of them look great. Alot of work but the results are outstanding. I'm going to catch the tour the next time it swings down south.........

BTW, I talked to the guy with the above car and he said he had 20 hours into the hood....the car is really good looking----the pics don't do it justice. It was raining non stop from 4:30 to about 7:30 there but was absolutely worth it. They are going to Wisconsin next I think and you guys close by should stop in if you can.
