Need opinions: are chrome gauges on hoods tacky?

I was curious. I just got my T/A painted bright metallic red, and bought some chrome guage mounts. I had some autometer sport-comp gauges (f/p, tranny temp, nitrous press) sitting around, and thought it would look cool if they were mounted on the hood.
What do you guys think?!

Oh, BTW, "tastefull" tackiness is what I'm going for--red metallic paint, hood gauges, exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheels, black velour interior...(but nothing too bad!!)

Yeah baby!!!!

It all depends on the car. Some of the older muscle car had the hood tach from the factory, and they looked sweet!! I gues if you put just a moster tach on the hood it wouldn't look so bad. But not a whole set of gauges.

I personally think that guages mounted on the door pillars look a lot better.

gauges on the hood look good on old muscle cars. the best place ive seen for gauges is below the center air vent on the dash

I was thinking of a hood tach from a '69 Firebird on my GTA and disabling the one in the dash. Maybe throwing another gauge in that spot.
Look cool?

YEahhh!!! I threw in the gauges and they look awesome!!! Not sure if I mentioned or not, but the car isn't a 3rdgen, it's a '78 T/A. I bet they'd look sweet on a 3rdgen though...

Go for the hood tach, it may look awesome. If it doesn't, you can always remove it and use your original tach.
