there is no reason that you couldn't. A bit of a PITA.
It will have to be done with taper rolls and buffs on a die grinder.

The master cylinder I guess could be polished, just make sure you don't hit your brake lines or mess anything up. I would probably just see If I could find a crome one.

If I'm not mistaken, the prop valve (hopefully not since I've been playing with it for the last few days) IS aluminum so it'd be real easy to take out the machined lines and numbers and shine it up. Don't know about the master cylinder though. That'd be tough. You'd want to see if you can take the resevoir off. The only thing hold the MC to the car is the two bolts on the back side of it and the two brake lines going to the prop valve. But if you take those two lines off you'll have to bleed your brakes.

When asking if you can polish something... all you really need to ask is - is it solid? and there you go. Will it be a PITA yes and a crome top for the resevior would look alot better...

You can polish anything. not just Alum. STEEL will polish to a chrome shine just like alum.
Get yourself some liquid/grit sandpaper and some buff pads for a cordless drill it you have one. Obviouslly a diff pad for each grit and a diff pad for each buffing compound.
