can I take off side molding without taken off paint?

I have a 86 iroc with the 1/4 inch side molding on it.My car was painted about 4 months ago and the idiots painted the moldings.the bad part is they took the time to remove them from the car to paint them, instead of just replacing with new ones.it doesnt look bad but I want to remove the molding and put new stuff on.can I do this without damage to paint underneath? thanks

Not likely. If they used plastic emblem adhesive, the paint is toast. If they used double back tape, you might be able to get them off and hand rub the area with rubbing compound, hand glaze then wax.
