Did the red taillight mod
I felt ambitious today, so I went and picked up some 1605 Testors translucent Candy apple red paint and painted the amber parts on my lights. They took a good 4-5 coats until they looked dark enough. I think this was an awesome little appearance mod, I gotta touch up a few spots but other than that it came out great. Here's some pics

great little mod, i bet many people wont notice it ,you know what i dont think id even notice it , but it does look better when you show the b4 and after pic. In the first pic though where you painted it, it looks a little dull. Is it possible to polish it up just a little bit so it matches all of them . But it looks really good, what about doing all of them red, has anyone done that?

91RSowner- I didnt remove the lense, I just removed the whole taillight from the car and masked it off.

I'm not keen on the red. I like the orange, alhough I do wish it was a little darker, not so bright and cheezy.
Does Testors make a dark orange?

The taillights look great. I never really thought of the orange in the grid lights as being ugly-- until I see them in red. Good job.

The only thing about that is you can't really polish them all shiny now can you? You can't really polish the paint right?
Perhaps if you could paint the inside some how, 'cause I really really dig the super polished lenses (ala the sticky)

Ive really wanted to change the orange to clear... but that would be alot more difficult and messy. Can you get some pics of them lit up.. i assume it will be a little difficult to catch but thats whats kinda teetering me on the mod. Maybee I'll hit it up next weekend!
Yup, I did one of my taillight sets just like the pic billsfirebird posted expect I left the top reverse light clear instead of the bottom. I also blocked off the two bottom squares from the inside so they dont light up when I put it in reverse (only that single top clear square). I'm gonna put em on my 91 as soon as I get my rear bumper re-painted, I'll be sure to post some pics.

If I had a camaro I'd do the same thing. Ive never really liked the orange turn signal look. If my bro still had his camaro I'd make him do it.

I do beleive each lense can come off? it looks like there is clips or something that hold each lense on, I've never tried so I might be wrong. but if you had a set of euro taillights, (with the red and orange switched) you could take off the red turn signal part and put it on the US config taillights. Just a thought

I suppose it's illegal to go without white backup lights, but i wonder if any cops would notice if the whole thing was red.

all red would be a bad idea, you kinda need the white to let people know your backing up, but leaving one white looks good

looks good. If I was to do it I'd paint the parts that were already red, too, tho. That way it would all match. Looks better than the orange tho. Oh, and I'd paint 2/3 of the back-up part of the lens, too- that'd be sweet.
Have you polished the lenses yet? I painted my amber last ight but it looked like crap so out came the scotchbrite. I think I need a darker red first off but the pattern didn't show through at all. It just made it look cheap.
