The turn signals are great and all... but you can barely see what's behind you with the reverse lights as they are. I can't imagine painting them and trying to back out of my driveway at night.

I tried this last weekend and it came out terrible... I was using the transparent hot rod red and I had to put a ton on to make t turn red... so thus some of it peeled off and it made the lense look solid Sooo I just painted em black, Im gonna go hunt the yards tommorow and see if I cant get another set of lights to chop up and either graft a red or clear panel in place of the amber.

Here is what black looks like. I did 3 light coats, I prefer the red but this looks better than amber and it was a quick fix for a screwed up job. Does anyone have some grid lights they wanna get rid of cheap, they can be cracked or whatever all I need is the clear section

Thanks CaysE... it will probably stay like that for awhile.. I keep going back and forth between liking it and not. I want to graft some clear panels in place of the amber.. but I need extra clear panels first which will be hard to find in a reasonable price range so they will stay like this for awhile

I had a friend do this to his RSX and it looked nice but I never thought of doing it to my car. The only question I have is that doesn't the turn signal have to be amber?

Nope. There are lots of cars with red rear turn signals. The front have to be amber, though.

I wish there was some way to make all the lenses white, and put the proper color bulb behind each of them.

Ok??? Why then in 97 did Chevy put the amber back into the tail lights of the fourth gen?? 80's huh.

as for your modded lights, i think they look very well executed, but i'm all for the amber myself.

Good Question!!! LOL, I don't know why they did that... i think the red versions look better. To me, it looks cleaner with less colors in the taillights.

How would I go about doing something like this to the '84 T/A tail lights? I'd want them black though where the lines are and the red to be a sorta darker shade but visible.

Looking very good. I've been wanting to do this since I got my Z. Thanks for all the info, that's exactly what I needed!
I'll try to find the paint at our local hobby store soon, can't wait to have all-red taillights. I personally am a fan of all-red because that's what most American cars have. And my Z is an American car, dammit!

I was just joking. Not serious, just stating that the tailights split up into sections like they are on our cars looks too old and 80's looking and i dont like it nor the 80's. I like the modern look of just all red, just like what tunedport335 did. I dont know why chevy did that nor do i care but oh well.

I dont hate the cars from the 80's or the heavy metal music. LOL

Just dont like the tail lights. I do plan on copying this idea to mine. I think it would look badass. Especially on black car. I just want it to match well and have glossy finish. I will try the same process as tunedport335 did and use that deep crystal polish to gloss them up a bit.
