A lot of you have REALLY nice 3rdgens. (ie, Kandied91Z, ES87IROC, Crazy Hawaiian, etc)... Of course this doesn't just include them, just the names I could think of at 7am...

Anyway, we've all seen the after pictures, but not many of us have seem the before pictures of the cars...

Anyone, if you've done a restore or just even a new paintjob or even just some freshening up of your cars appearance, post a pic of before... and maybe an after if we haven't seen the car 60,000 times before.

I need some motivation for my project... I need to see that there is in fact light at the end of this Looooooong tunnel.

If nothing else, the after pics should serve as motivation because it shows that with enough time and money it can turn out REALLY nice. In addition to staying motivated, you have to stay dedicated to ONE project (one of my faults is having TOO many projects at any given time).

Good luck!

True... the after pics speak volumes but I want to see how many of those REALLY nice cars compared to mine before they underwent the transformation. I look at my car, half torn apart in my driveway, and I wonder how in the heck its ever gonna get done.

Yeah, when I'm done with my '87, my wife's '90 IROC is going under... I don't know how I'd even move in my garage if I had 2 cars torn apart at once.

Before:

After:

It's hard to take pics of shot rotors, pads, shocks, struts, tires, hoses, etc. that I have replaced/repaired to get the car back to "nearly new" condition.

The paint was the key. Wish I had spent more on the paint but overall I am satisfied.

Wow, thanks! Hang in there, it's a long battle to make a driven old car into something nice, but it's sure worth it.

Mine was pretty much a turd when I got it, the interior was toast, motor had spun bearings, exterior had several coats of macco, and the list goes on and on. I was looking for a car that was all there though, and this one fit the bill even though it needed ALOT of love. (& cash!)

This picture looks alot nicer than the car was, it was pretty beat! It had deep keying and a really bad bondo job on the passenger door, let alone a million door dings and bad paint...

Before... (was in good shape prior to the b___h running a red light and me t-ing her...)...

Fixing the damage...

A color change or two later (a few years of problems, indecision, lack of $$ and a few idea changes as well) and here is how the turd sits now (never to be done)...

:werd: Maybe because its been in all the mags and they don't want to re-run the same car I have seen some posts from him looking for TPI parts pretty recently so hopefully we haven't lost him. I cant wait to see what the "pretty" new project looks like!

Mine seems like it started out much the same as yours... and will share the same overall design...

I bought my car because it had all the options that were important to me. Although, looking back, most everything aside from the T-Tops will be something that'll either be removed, or replaced with better components... All I'll have left is the RPO's to prove what it was stock - although, what does that matter

My car is in a few peices right now. I've since added the sides and rear peices for the 91-92 GFX. On the lookout for a front gfx. I've got the 96 SS Leather seats, '01 Console.

The motor and tranny are out, the A/C is long gone, the engine bay looks like a rats nest of wires... its gonna be a long road.

My overall project is getting completely stripped down for paint. The paint will be a copper/orange metallic of some sort... It will have gunmetal accents (decals, wheels, etc). A complete black interior (going from red to black) is going to happen. The 700 is getting replaced with a T56. The 305TPI will be replaced with a 350-400sbc with an HSR and a turbo setup of some type. The rear will be replaced PROBABLY for now with a 4th gen setup. Also, the cervini hood is a must.

Sooooo.... its gonna take a long time and a lot of money. Looking back, was it worth it to buy a loaded IROC for $2400 when I could've gotten an SC and done all this to? Hmmm.... time will tell.

holy crap... so now Flyinlow89 sold his T/A (to another member at least) and Kandied91Z sold his Z28..... this is insane! I know Flyinlow went the way of the 4th gen, I'm looking forward to see how Kandied tops his previous work with the new project. I'm also wondering how much he got for the 91 !

Cadillac i have the stock hood hanging from the ceiling in the garage , it justs sits there collecting dust . Its in perfect condition. But i dont know if i wanna use it again, i might put it back on when i have the car painted in like 10 years .The car doesnt really need paint so it will stay like it is now until it needs it.

Nolan... your PM box is full. If it wasn't, here is what you would have read from me:

if you ever want to consider selling the old hood (or even the new one!) let me know. I might be interested. I want to introduce a little more ventilation in the engine bay and the current hood just ain't doing it.

Thanks!

Mine's still definitely a work in progress. Things still on the agenda: 4th gen console, some neatening of the wiring in the engine bay, especially after the Stealth Ram install, new wheels and tires (probably 17" ROH RT's) and a paint job eventually (color suggestions?? ). Also I just aquired a 9 bolt posi rear end that I'm going to be setting up with LT1 brakes and putting in soon I hope. It has come quite a ways since the beginning though. Motor and tranny swap, new carpet, seats, guage upgrades, etc...

Ok...I admit it I'm a picture ***** :lala:

you cant see it in the pics but the car had bad cracks in the paint, the spoiler was completely ruined with cracks in the cheap *** rubber, one of the fenders was crushed in (slightly) from a previous owners wreck, pressure cracks over the door, winshield cracks, blah blah blah heres the car.

finally was able to paint it after my other car cost me a ton in repairs.>>at the paint shop.

and finally in my front yard in low res disposible camera pictures. new hood, new spoiler, new paint, and somwhere in between this 1.5 year period i also installed a catback.

next is to finish the interior.

An awesome turnaround on your car, vortech! But I think painting the windshield frame black would set that car off nicely.
