Accessory brackets

I want to eliminate my stock serpentine setup. I have already removed the smog pump and I'm about to remove the AC. Now I wonder what is the point of having that big ugly serpentine system for power steering and the alternator?

Does anybody know of a cost effective aftermarket solution to this problem? I like having a tensioner, but I would probably give that up if the system looked nice enough for the right price.

I would love to find something that has a tensioner, uses my stock alternator and PS pump and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and also looks sleek and efficent.

Am I dreaming, or does soemthing like this exist? Or am I caught in that "the grass is greener on the other side" thing?

Check out Street and Performance. They have alot of after market brackets...stuff is for LT1s. Maybe some will transfer over...other wise check out some street rod shows locally...they used to swap in 350s & had alot of aftermarket brackets... Not sure what is the best street rod place though!

Check Summit; they sell March and their own brand of serpentine stuff, and its cheaper than Street and Performance (which btw has stuff for small blocks, Lt1s, LS1s, new hemis, 5.0 Fords, etc). Most of the aftermarket stuff doesn't use a tensioner; they use sort of a turnbuckle with spherical rod ends instead. Either way, you could keep your existing accessories.

That was a trip we'll never forget...the fuel pump's inline fuse crapped out on the way (didn't know it had one before that), and we had to tow the car from the NC/TN line to Bristol. Fortunately we were able to get it going and make the show! We were afraid we were going to have to drop a full gas tank in the Hampton Inn parking lot!

LOL, well I won't forget it either. That same night that I saw the raif my car got towed from the McDonalds parking lot!!

My friend and I got something to eat there, and walked down the street to watch the traffic. They really mean it when they say that your car will be towed at your expense!! lol, it sucked.

I wasn't in my Firebird, I was in my cavalier, but still.
