New paint job!!

I have been fortunate enough to get my car backed into. He messed up the passenger fender and door. I brought it to a friends place to get an estimate and he said through him it'd be like $1000 so at least $1500 anywhere else. I'm bringing it off to get appraised today at noon. Book value on the car is $3000 so I figure no matter what, I'm getting at least $1500 if not more from insurance. I've got a couple ideas on what to do, so maybe you guys can help me out a little.

1. New ASCD hood. I don't know if I want the SS Style or the Big Block style. Any suggestions? I definately don't want a regular cowled hood, but I do want something I can make into a ram-air hood.

2. I want to paint it black w/ white racing stripes, I'm wondering if I should go heritage style stripes, 2 dodge style stripes (big & same width...there used to be a nice pic in the member rides w/ fat stripes like that), or some midrange type thing like this:

I really like the black/white thing, but I am open to suggestions for other stripe styles if anyone has some good pics of striped 3rd gens.

There's more pics of that car here: http://www.potsdam.ny.us/~mark/pics/scott/

From what I've heard, the SS hood looks more promising for making a ram air system. It's design is more aerodynamicly sound for a ram air setup (the nozle shpaed design). In addition, I think the heritage stripes look killer with that one. I think you can find the heritage stripes at www.pheonixgraphix.com or if you want to have them painted on (the look I perfer) I'd like to run an idea by you, have them done in a silver pearl coat. a guy I work with had that done on his fiero and they look awesome. Just my 2 cents.

There was a kick-awesome Camaro with a cowl-induction hood somewhere prev. on the board... it was spankin' yellow with two black racing stripes that were each 1/3 on the hood surface, another 1/3 on the "side" of the cowl, and the last 1/3 painted on the top of the cowl. Was the nicest stripes job I've ever seen. That would look really sharp in your black/white fetish

That was Mean Yelllow Z's car. Yeah the thing is sick and I'd love to own it, but I don't really like cowled hoods. I've got a real pet peeve w/ people that get them but don't really need them. There's some kid around here TBI (i think) 305 w/ a 3" cowl thats completely white that he claims is original paint, never mind that Z's didn't come single toned the year of his car... But anyways, I'm not going to be able to afford a hood, so my car is gonna look just like that pic, but in its a hard top.

Jason86, I'm kind of with you... I'm not a fan of a guy who's only mods are a cowl hood and exhaust.

That's why I love this one place- US Body Source. http://www.usbodysource.com They make fiberglass hoods that are the OEM style! They also have a Daytona hood that sort-of copies the style of the picture you showed.

If I ever have the cash, I'm getting myself a stock-style fiberglass hood from these guys.

If the Daytona hood TomP is talking about is the Daytona Turbo hood that looks like a raised IROC(2&1/4") I would definitely get it. I got mine about a year and a half ago and I get nothing but compliments about it. If you do decide to get it have the body shop that puts it on cut out the 8 small vents on the side.
