My new IROC :)

Just bought it.

1988 IROC-Z L98, T-Tops. Perfect condition. Missing only a couple badges from the repaint. (5.7 TPI badges side and rear and rear Z28 badge.)

This car is so clean I almost died when I saw it. 72K miles. Here it is on E-Bay, I've already spoken with the owner, he can't log into his e-bay account because he forgot his password

Any comments? Suggestions on first mods? Hehe. And oh yes the headlight pockets will be repainted flat black.

Is that the original engine? I didnt think they ever made a 350TPI with T-Tops.
Very nice car!

You are mistaking T-tops with convertibles.
They never made 350ci with convertibles.

hmm...some minor things to check for.

Why was the engine rebuilt if it only has 72k miles?
It looks like the car was repaited because the front
light pockets are supposed to be BLACK nor RED.
Do a carfax before you buy.
Just my .02

I had to put a motor in my GTA at 97k because the previous owners had somehow managed to crack the block. And I'm not talking a hair line crack here. They managed to crack it between the #4 and #6 cylinders, as well as #3, and #5!

A HUGE 5" long crack in the waterjacket.

The car is an 88, but it has 87 seats in it. Those are black Custom Cloth seats available in 87 only. The headlight pockets should be semi-gloss black, not flat. Did Carfax show the mileage to be correct? Also, 88-90's had IROC-Z emblems, not Z28 like 85-87's. Are you going to add the correct stickers/stripes/emblems?

Yes I will add correct stripes, and thanks for that bit of info. And yes I know it was repainted. Carfax shows it's clean and the mileage to be correct.

The engine was pulled apart to be inspected. The man's story is as follows: He has a friend who does alot of high performance motors (and I think his story stacks up due to alot of evidence) and they were going to sell this car, so they pulled apart the motor to make sure everything was hunky dorey, and when they did everything was fine, but they replaced rings and bearings and such.

So maybe "refreshened" is a better word than rebuilt.

And thanks for the info on the seats. but no matter what year they are.. they look badazz :hail:

I don't suppose you know where I can find a listing of all those little details such as emblems, types and positions of them, stripe colors for a red car and if the GFX were originally two-tone.

To my knowledge it's missing the following:

- Stripe kit
- 5.7 Tuned Port Injection badges under rockers
- Rear IROC-Z badge
- Rear 5.7 Tuned Port Injection badge

It DOES have the door stickers. Thank gosh.

I try Mr.Z06/IROC-Z.

44,

You are right, the 87 seats are nice, I should know. Everything you need should be available through www.classicindustries.com and the like. Your car should have the black and silver striping. It is a big black bar on top, a tiny clear section which will be body color, and a little silver stripe on the bottom. All IROC-Z's had body colored GFX. All the emblems should be silver for your car.
