Can you use a clay bar on Enamel Paint?

I've been doing some research on Clay Bars...and they sound like they do a really good job. All of the research I have done...always uses base/clear paint as an example. Will a clay bar work alright with enamel paint as well?

My car is slick and shiney...but does have some overspray...especially from coating my interior plastic. You can't feel the overspray...but you can see it. Let me know if you have any info. Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem on your black paint, 84, Id be a little leary on single stage metallic though. Some bars do break down the paint ever so slightly, resulting in minor polishing afterward.

Yeah, I really wasn't addressing you, per say on the metallic issue, more for others out there that may have the same question on a non-clearcoat car.

I use clay bars before polishing and waxing to get the paint super clean. You would be amazed at all the crap that ends up on the bar, even if the paint feels smooth. If the overspray is really bad and you've got a show, I would have it wet sanded and buffed by someone who knows what they are doing.

I know how to wetsand and everything...but it's not all that bad. Everytime I read about clay bars....it only talks about base/clear patin finishes...and it never mentions enamel paint..just want to make sure it's safe and won't damage anything.
