Paint won't dry! HELP!!!

Well, i just found out today that the paint isn't drying on my car, apparently there's still a residue of the paint stripper left on the metal and my paint guy's havin a hell of a time with it. Looks like I'm gonna have to be scrubbin on it the whole weekend. Does anyone know a good way to get that stripper (Kleen-Strip aircraft coating remover) off the metal surface, I originally sprayed the surface real well with a hose, and went over it with several dry, clean rags, but I guess that wasn't enough. Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated!!

Are you sure that they put hardener in the paint? I remember where my uncle works some guy forgot to put the hardener in the paint and they gave it back to the guy tacky. He brought the car back and they had to repaint the car.

Rule # 1. Soapy water doesn't clean off harsh chemicals. You need to use prep-sol or a different pre-paint cleaner.

Rule # 2. Stripper wouldn't cause the paint not to dry. It would cause fish-eyes and other problems, but it would still dry.

Rule # 3. Don't ever bring your car to a body shop that doesn't even final wash the car before painting.

James-
As fas as I know he used it, haven't asked him, he's the one who's done like 30 cars so I trust him to make the decisions. Plus, it dried fine in some spots but was still VERY tacky in others like he just put the paint on. I will ask him though, BTW, love the Red Green quote!

Jim -
I'll try a pre-paint cleaner, I'm pretty sure he's already used something like it, he's had it for over 2 months and told me he's done a final wash. He's used the same product on all of his show cars and can't figure out what else it could be. As for the water, that's what I was told to do by both the paint supply store, I didn't think it'd fully cut it either, but everyone told me it's all you have to do. Thanks for the help

when I stripped my car, I used Laquer thinner to clean up with - it worked great, and I didn't have to worry about water causing pre-mature surface rust.

The water isn't much of a problem, you just have to dry it real fast and make sure that when you put it up for the night you don't have any standing water nearby. Got some minor surface rust on a quarter pannel from that, but nothing serious
