After searching for quite some time for some answers to the questions I have on polishing, I can't seem to find anything direct. The problem Im having is some small scratches on the rim after I do the finaly buffing phase, and on the rim I just completed, there are some grey-ish areas. Anyone have some kind of idea what makes this happen, and how I can get rid of it? On the first rim I sanded 150/180/320/400 and buffed using sisal w/emery, spiral w/emery, loose w/tripoli, canton flannel w/w.rouge. On the 2nd rim I sanded 180/320/400/600/800 with the same buffing wheels/compounds. If that helps any. Just trying to make the rims perfect and the scratches and greyish areas are tickin me off. Thanks for any help!

Did you do any wetsanding?

 

on the first rim I did wetsand on the 320 and 400, on the 2nd, no wetsanding.
