got any closer shoots of your camaro from down low?

 

thats awesome , if i had a camaro i would have that , im wondering what it would look like on a blue or red car or something other than black if you painted the covers body color.

 

It would probably look nice. Or you can tint the inside of the covers with that color tint the same color of the car so that the light can still shine through.

 

id like to see it on a car.

 

If i was good with photoshop then I would show you what it would look like but I can't figure it out.

Wow! Got them in the mail today! All I have to say is, if you are selling them... get a patent. These are well worth it and the craftsmanship far exceeds the asking price!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that these covers are modeled after my 92 Camaro headlight openings. I don't know if the headlight openings are the same from 82-87. Does anybody know if they are the same dimensions?

 

I do believe the 82-84 Z-28's have a slightly different opening. They look very much alike but, there is a difference. In 85 when the Iroc- Z was introduced the front end as well as other body parts, got new aero look to them. I do like your covers, that is exactly what I have been wanting to do on my 82 Z-28 and yes, there was an option for the 82-84 camaro's that were sent over seas to have those covers on it for export. They were also available for the Indy pace car edition of the Z-28 as well as the regular Z-28. The GM parts are very rare and very expensive and pretty much fasten up the way you did yours. I've looked at a couple Indy Pace cars to see the GM set. I was planning on doing the same as what you did with the 1/4" plexiglass. I use the plexiglass for mudflaps as well, though I didn't want to put them on, it was the best way so as not to see them as easily. Road rash is really bad here. Anyway very nice job!!

i think the part# is PL-704. i think they wre $49 a set. I had to get 2 sets.

How come the ones closer to the middle look different than the outer set?

Is that the way they are manufactured?

High beam/low beam?

Or is that just the way it appears in the pics?

 

The inner ones are amber lenses. The outies are clear lensed. I have the amber lenses hook up to a fog light switch.

 

Which ones are brighter?

Also, what kind of spoiler do you have?

The clears are brighter. The rear spoiler is a turbo wing from ascd.

 

Do the lamps just hook right up or is there some fabrication/wiring mods necessary?

 

i used spade terminals on the fog light wiring to insert into the factory harness just incase later on i decide to go back to factory headlights

I have 16x9.5 on all corners. I don't remember the backspacing. I've had these wheels for 14 yrs now.

I ordered them with a pretty shallow backspacing. I think it was either 4.5 or 5.5 inches

 

I would bet 4.5 backspace. 17x9.5 with 5.5 almost rubs on the stearing, a smaller diameter would most certanly hit the tie rod.

 

Back on topic to the headlight covers....

I just wanted to say I recieved the covers today. They look great! As soon as I put them on, I will send you some pics of them. you have my permission to use them for any advertising that you want to do.

how about a cupholder that mounts to the radiator

 

random thought(its late) wouldnt there be a way to acutally mold those covers to the bumper to give a perfectly smooth fit and possibly keep them on just as good?

 

wouldnt be able to change that headlight if it burns out

 

you could just modify the light bar a bit in the back to be able to reach the bulb, i have small hands so it wouldnt take much room to reach a bulb.....id like to see how that looks though so i may give it a go, im torn between that and a 300zx headlight swap, go the easy route or the hard route lol

 

You could get a set of the curved aftermarket covers, then cut off the edges of the flange (since you don't really need them) and then add the fasteners.

 

If you don't mind doing extensive bodywork then you can go with the 300zx lights. It looks as if there will be alot of gaps around the lights if you just drop them in.

 

i dont mind the body work so much seeing as i have to repaint and do a lot anyways.....but im thinkiing maybe just some clear covers and maybe a squre shaped light and a round projector to go behind it...dunno though

I just got some one-piece lights from the wrecking yard today. They are from an '87 Corsica. They use projector style 9006 bulbs, so I got new Hyper-white AIC bulbs. The housing seems to be fitting pretty well with only minor mods to the original headlight holders. I'll post pics when I get finished! I plan to run clear covers over them.

 

I'm considering picking up a set of these but I just wonder about how they affect the stock headlights. Is there any problem with redirection or glare or anything else that might cause trouble with the cops?

 

The covers DO NOT affect lighting in any way unless they're covered in mud . Last night my car was parked in the driveway and I couldn't even tell that the covers were on. I thought I forgot to put them back on after washing the car but they were on. They won't redirect lighting at all but check your local laws on the legality of headlight covers before you order them.

 

i wonder what it would look like if you were to say switch all the front end lights over to round lights...say headlights the biggest, the hight beams a little smaller round lights, then take some round lenses and make those the turnsignals...ive been drawing some stuff out i wish i knew what it would like like on the car

still cant decide what kinda light setup i wanna use, cant wait to get the clear covers though...got any night pictures of the lights lit up?
