Hood
alright, i was gonan sell my third gen, but its not worth it to sell it. heres the story...
the car was originally a 305tbi and the previous owner swapped it for a carbed 350. it had the stock carb on it and the air cleaner. with thet set-up, the aircleaner touched the hood. something happened to the carb where i had no throttle response, so i got a new carb. its a holley 625cfm, works nicely with the car, runs great. only problem is that there isnt enough room under my hood for an air cleaner, so i have been driving without one for about 2 weeks now. i went into the shop and asked him what cowl hood he could get for me. i wanted a Jongbloed hood, but he cant get it. id be better off ordering it myself and getting it shipped, which also means i dont get hooked up with it. so we looked through the catalogs and the only cowl hood that he can get is the harwood.
sooo...i ordered the harwood 3" lift off hood. i only got liftoff because its 200$ cheaper, and i dont lift my hood all that much so thats not really my concern. i got the hood, and all the hood pins and everything for 340 shipped plus hes gonan charge me like 20$ to put it on and line everything up perfect. you think thats a pretty good deal? oh, it should be here monday, ill be posting pics as soon as it gets on there

Sounds like a good deal, esp. on install.
I thought about a lift off hhod, but on a driver it seems to impractical.
I know what you mean by not lifting your hood often, but what in an emergency? Esp. with a carb, what if you were to get a back fire, or other under hood fire, could you imagine running around your car trying to undo 20 dzus fasteners, while your $340 hood starts to melt onto your engine?
Not fun!

It is going to take more than 4 pins to properly hold that hood down. With only 4 you will likely see it bowing and floping around at speed.

to properly pin a hood, you need 8 pins.
should look like this:

Ignore the lines, it gets all smushed up if you just put spaces whenever you post it.

I disagree. i am using 4 hood pins on my hood right now, as long as you do it right, and place the pins in the right positions, the hood wont move enough to notice, if at all. and you could take the hood off with 1 person if an emergency came up. expesually if its fiberglass...

where did you mount your hood pins? i mean which part of the car did you put them? the kit comes with 4 pins with studs and everything, and i dont want to spend more money, i figure one on each corner should be ok, i mean put them on the rad support and either where the hinges used to be or on the cowl where the wipers are
