IROC decal set: value and care
When I bought my '89 about 2 years ago the owner was the general manager of the Chevy dealer where I bought the car. He purchased the car at the dealer in '89. Well, as a part of the deal, he threw in a full set of decals - stripes, IROC-Z logos, emblems - the works; said he had the foresight to purchase the set because he knew some day they would no longer be available as GM original parts.
Anyone got an idea as to the value of such a decal set? It's all inclusive - when I finally have the money to repaint the car, I can literally rip off and toss every last decal and emblem because I have every last one with this set.
Maybe more importantly, I am really concerned about how to store all these decals - I do not anticipate repainting the car until 2-4 years from now. The decals are already - who knows, maybe 10+ years old. All of them were still in the original GM boxes, coiled up in a roll. Some of the stripes, because they are so long, had areas where they came loose from the backing - I took those out of the box and wrapped them around a 3-4" diameter cardboard tube to keep the decal flat against the backing. Anyway, I want to be sure I'm not overlooking anything in storing this little treaseure of mine 'cause, regardless of value, that is the way I see it.....

Storing them around a tube is not a bad idea. storing them flay between some cardboard wouldn't hurt either. Just keep 'em dry and you should be fine.

Desiccant Packaging
Use a dry pack of silica gel to pack inside, which removes moisture from the air.
Change it every six months, dry them with heat or it loses its effectiveness.
Store them out of the heat and cold as the decals do expand and contract with temperature.
I have two sets of 1983 Pace Car decals and emblems.
I have had my decals since 1983 and have seen no problems.
